Seven Ten Social (1055 E. 55th St., Chicago, IL 60615; 773-347-2695), which officially opened Wednesday, October 27, offers a new gathering place in the neighborhood, adjacent to the University of Chicago with eight bowling lanes, classic drinks and boozy milkshakes, and a menu of wagyu beef burgers and fried chicken sandwiches, wings, and tenders by Lillie’s Q and LQ Chicken Shack Founder/Chef Charlie McKenna.

“I’m proud to unveil the evolution of the neighborhood bowling alley with Seven Ten Social,” Founder Steve Soble says. “With a stunning modern industrial décor, state-of-the-art bowling machines with automatic scoring, and a great menu from award-winning Chef Charlie McKenna, we want Seven Ten Social to be a Hyde Park institution for fun times for the next 20 years.”

McKenna, whose flagship barbecue restaurant Lillie’s Q is located at the District Brew Yards beer hall and whose LQ Chicken Shack can be found at the United Center and Wrigley Field, curates a concise menu to bolster the bowling experience. The menu features:

Drinks

With a mix of classic and modern cocktails alongside boozy milkshakes and frozen drinks, Seven Ten Social offers adult beverages to suit many tastes. In addition to a small draft craft beer list, the cocktail list includes nearly a dozen drinks, such as:

  • The Gaucho and the Cowboy, High West Double Rye and Avión Reposado Tequila, orange bitters, vermouth, maple syrup ($12)

Design

Seven Ten Social showcases eight bowling lanes with automatic scoring that can accommodate up to six bowlers per lane. Above the lanes shines a “Hyde Park” neon green sign. Gray barn doors on the sides of the alley slide on hinges to unveil murals; since the doors can move, different art will be shown at different times (coming soon). The modern industrial vibe combines dark and rich tones of wood and leather with corrugated metal, and marquee lighting in the seating area spells out “Eat Drink Bowl.” Seating evokes mid-century modern with the curved leather chairs and barstools. The globe light fixtures  above were designed by Chicago-based Hangout Lighting. The bowling alley includes 40 dining seats, with the adjacent bar offering 12 barstools and seating for an additional 16 guests in the booths.
