Background file: Apothecary Cocktail Lounge to Open in Lakeview

Apothecary Cocktail Lounge is scheduled to open in May 2026 at 3242 N. Clark St. The concept is developed by Eric Reid, who applies principles from pharmacy to cocktail development.

Reid said his background in pharmacy informed the approach to ingredients and preparation. “Pharmacy taught me the science,” Reid said. “Cocktails taught me the artistry. Both are about making someone feel better.”

The beverage program, led by Beverage Director Zachary Heller, will organize cocktails into categories such as Anxiolytic, Digestif, Nootropic, and Euphoric. Drinks will include combinations such as rum with amaro, lime, and eucalyptus, and mezcal with peppercorn, hoja santa, rosemary, and lemon. The menu will also include highballs with fermented elements, a selection of classic cocktails, and nonalcoholic options. Spirits will be sourced from small-batch producers.

Chef Jacquelyn Lord will oversee the food menu, which will include small plates and additional dishes designed to accompany cocktails. Menu items will include tuna with shiso and grapefruit, duck confit flatbread with ricotta and date jam, fried oyster mushrooms with mustard, Basque cheesecake, and olive oil cake.
