Story overview: Chicago's Home Run Inn to Donate 2,000 Frozen Pizzas to Northern Illinois Food Bank
Home Run Inn will donate 2,000 frozen pizzas, feeding 8,000, to Northern Illinois Food Bank this week, for Chicago area food pantries, seniors and school children in need of meals.
“Words cannot begin to express our gratitude to Home Run Inn for their generous donation during this uncertain time,” said Lee Cheney, Director of Food Procurement at Northern Illinois Food Bank. “We know that our neighbors already face many tough choices every day, and with a crisis like this where suddenly not only are their jobs and income impacted, this product will not only fill put food on their table, but will provide a much-needed sense of normalcy and comfort.”
In accordance with the restaurant closure in Illinois ordered by Governor J.B. Pritzker, Home Run Inn locations across Chicagoland, including Archer Ave., Berwyn, Beverly, Bolingbrook, Bronzeville, Chicago 31st Street, Darien, Hillside and Melrose, will be open during regular business hours for carry out, curbside pickup and no-contact delivery at this time. Berwyn will offer curbside pickup and no-contact delivery.
Employees of Home Run Inn and their families will be financially supported by receiving additional sick days, as well as be placed in additional company roles necessary at this time.
“We are relying on our core values of family, pride, grit and courage to navigate these unchartered times,” said Gina Bolger, Senior Vice President of Branding for Home Run Inn. “Our team is pulling together and working around the clock to help our communities across Chicago.”
