Get a taste for what local restaurant and chefs are cooking up at the first Taste for the Space culinary event hosted by Yorktown Center.

Taste for the Space, a family-friendly, community-focused culinary event, will take place on Saturday, June 16 from 12 - 3 p.m., featuring a cooking competition and experience that brings together food trucks, local restaurateurs and chefs to showcase signature dishes to the local community, and share why their “taste” should win the  space.  The event will also feature games, kids’ activities, beverages from D.O.C Wine Bar, entertainment and more.

“We have launched Taste for the Space in other markets across the country and it has been wildly successful, so we are thrilled to bring it to Yorktown Center. The local community will play an important role in helping us choose the next budding restaurateur to win a turn-key dining space, including a $50,000 investment prize and six months free rent,”  said Najla Kayyem, senior vice president of marketing for Pacific Retail Capital Partners, the operating group for Yorktown Center. “Not only do we get to deliver a unique culinary event to locals, but Taste for the Space also allows us the opportunity to support an up-and-coming culinary entrepreneur make his or her dream come true.”

Tickets are on sale this Friday, May 4 and will benefit The York Township Food Pantry. Taste for the Space tickets are $7 per person and children 10 and under are free with the donation of a canned food item. Tickets can be purchased at www.yorktowncenter.com/tasteforthespace and include free tastings from all 12+ competitors plus all event activities.
