Japanese Sushi

Executive Chef and owner of Tanoshii Sushi Mike’s, “Sushi Mike” Ham, is opening Sapporo Tanoshii (“Happy Village” in Japanese), a hibachi and sushi restaurant in Algonquin on May 10. Located at 1521 S. Randall Road.

Mike Ham began crafting sushi in Jacksonville, Florida in 1994 while working as an accountant. While on a long-term project in Florida, Mike became a regular at a  local sushi restaurant and was amazed by the chef. He quit his accounting job and began to study with the chef. The 160 seat Japanese hibachi restaurant will bring a sushi bar, hibachi tables, a private dining room, and a full bar with cocktails, beer, wine and sake to the area this March. The restaurant will have twelve hibachi tables and be open seven days a week.  The menu will include sushi, hibachi, kitchen appetizers, kitchen entrees, and have a cocktail menu.
