Octoberfestiversary is for all ages (and dog friendly) with a selection of fall-inspired beers and classic favorites from both breweries—including an exclusive Festbier by Dovetail Brewery and a limited, 10th anniversary barrel-aged beer from Begyle Brewing.
On Saturday, October 8 from 11am-9pm and Sunday October 9, from 11am-9pm, there will be live music, food trucks, pop-ups and kids activities including balloon artists and coloring activities happening throughout the weekend. The event takes place on Ravenswood from West Warner to West Cuyler on the west side of the train tracks between the two breweries.
“Octoberfestiversary is a great way to celebrate fall, but also provides an opportunity to donate meals for those in need right in our own community,” said Kevin Cary of Begyle Brewing. “Between Octoberfestiversary and Mayfestiversary, we have raised money for over 1.2 million meals for our neighbors facing hunger. Our goal for this year is to raise $25,000 or the equivalent of 250,000 meals.”
With a suggested $5 donation, The Friendship Center can deliver two weeks of groceries to a senior living alone – that’s enough to prepare about 50 meals. The Friendship Center is a non-sectarian, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing groceries for 2,000 residents every month in the Albany Park, Lincoln Square, North Park, Ravenswood, and West Ridge neighborhoods of Chicago and Lincolnwood.
“Folks living on fixed incomes are especially vulnerable right now. Basic needs are getting more expensive each month, and the money coming in no longer adequately covers those costs. The Friendship Center can help put food on their table and our partnership with Begyle and Dovetail make it possible to reach more of our neighbors facing hunger,” says Justin Block, Executive Director at The Friendship Center.
