Ravenswood on Tap, the neighborhood’s annual craft beer festival, returns this summer on Saturday, June 11th and Sunday, June 12th. Celebrating its 5th anniversary, the two-day festival features beer and spirits from local breweries, food from some of area restaurants, food trucks, a line-up of live music and entertainment, as well as handmade goods from local retailers and artists.

“Ravenswood on Tap has always been a neighborhood favorite. So many businesses come out in support of each other from breweries to retail shops for an fun weekend to officially kick off summer,” says Gene Wagendorf III, associate director of the Greater Ravenswood Chamberof Commerce (GRCC). “I can’t even put into words how excited we are to be back this year.”

The festival is located on Ravenswood Avenue between Berteau & Belle Plaine otherwise known as “Malt Row,". Participating breweries and distilleries this year will include Begyle Brewing, Cultivate by Forbidden Root, Dovetail Brewery, Empirical Brewery, Half Acre Beer Company, KOVAL Distillery, LaGrow Organic Beer Co., Smylie Brothers Brewing, Spiteful Brewing, and Urban Brew Labs.

“We’ve welcomed new brewers to the community since our last On Tap,” shares Wagendorf. “They’re looking forward to officially meet the community and show us what they’ve got. It’s going to be our best festival yet!”

Guests will be able to satisfy appetites with bites from local restaurants while browsing goods from artists and shops. 2022 Ravenswood on Tap vendors include:

  • 5411 Empanadas – serving gourmet fresh baked empanadas
  • Bad Johnny’s Wood-Fired Pizza – wood-fired pizza from a mobile pizza oven
  • Bosphorus – leather goods and watches
  • Ćevapčići – Croatian BBQ featuring Ćevapčići (grilled sausages made with lamb, beef, pork, garlic, and spices)and “Balkan Burgers” served with zesty red pepper and eggplant sauce, onions, and Feta spread
  • Deep Field Aromatics – botanical perfumes and fragrances
  • Designs by Uchita – handcrafted fashion and jewelry
  • Folk That – artist/printmaker
  • Genoa Italian – corn dogs, funnel cakes, hot dogs, burgers, eggplant parmesan sandwiches, fresh-squeezed lemonade, and more!
  • Gnome Brew – home brewing product demos and homebrew tastings.
  • Ground Up Press – artist/printmaker
  • Hilary’s Cookies – handmade, gourmet cookies, and vegan and non-vegan baked goods and sweets

Included is a line-up of live music and activities like axe-throwing for a little competition. Ravenswood on Tap will feature performances by:

  • Albion West – an alternative folk group rooted in hope, authenticity, and community pulling from jazz, classical, and folk traditions.
  • Chai Tulani – Kenya born and Chicago raised, Tulani is known for his raspy and soulful voice merging genres like reggae, soul, afrobeat, and hip hop.
  • Elton Aura – a mixture of hip hop, soul, alt-R&B, and jazz.
  • Lightleak – grandiose, unpredictable indie rock.
  • Old Joy – combines the pop sensibilities of folks like Elliot Smith and Matthew Sweet with the grit and devil-may-care slop of The Replacements and Pavement.
  • Olive Avenue – movie montage music made to make you dance while hitting you in the heartstrings. Olive Avenue blends 70s pop and disco with modern indie tones.
  • Ovef Ow – 4-piece “space surf” rock band with a surf and garage/punk-inspired and multi-vocalist sound.
  • Salt Sugar Sweet – 90s and 2000s party rock featuring hits from pop-punk and emo greats.
  • Shannon Candy – sweet, singsong melodies combined with gut-wrenching screams and buzzy, distorted guitars.
  • The Dyes – a raw rock n’ roll trio fueled by infections ‘50s and ‘60s oldies, approached with an irreverence and vigor that is anything but retro.
  • The Eclectic Electric Entanglement Band – an amorphous configuration of smooth style that brings unparalleled energy to the stage.

Ravenswood on Tap kicks off Saturday, June 11th from 12pm - 10pm and continues Sunday, June 12th from 12pm - 6pm. A $5-10 donation is suggested at the door and supports the Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce, Ravenswood Community Council, and other community organizations. Drink tickets are $8 each and cash only. A limited number of commemorative reusable steel tumblers will be available to purchase for $10. A presale package is available for $45 and includes 5 drink tickets (good for 1 beer/cocktail each), a reusable steel tumbler, and 1 pass for axe throwing.
