This Sunday, October 8th, theWit Hotel will be offering several ways to celebrate and support marathon runners including a table in lobby with water, fruit, chocolate milk and other items to recharge runners along with a limited time Marathon Weekend pasta menu at the hotel’s restaurant, State and Lake. 

The special Marathon weekend pasta menu will begin this Friday, October 6 - Sunday, October 8, including an appetizer, hearty pasta entree and dessert for prepping or refueling during Marathon weekend ($45 per person): 

  • Appetizers: 
    • Jennie’s Meatballs, Whipped Goat Cheese polenta, San Marzano Pomodoro Sauce
    • Butternut Squash soup, Winter Spice Crème Fraîche
    • Harvest Salad, Tuscan Kale, Arugula, Feta Cheese, Spiced Pecans, Tahini Dressing
    • Classic Caesar Salad, Romaine Hearts, Aged Parmesan, Torn Croutons, Caesar Dressing
  • Pasta Entrées:
    • Potato Gnocchi With Bolognese Sauce, Grated Grana Padano
    • Rigatoni With Spicy Vodka Sauce, Fresh RicoDa, Charred Broccolini
    • Spaghetti Surf Clams Puttanesca, Roasted Tomatoes, Olives, Capers, Garlic
  • Desserts:
    • Valrhona Chocolate Pot De Crème

Mercat a la Planxa

Available exclusively during Marathon weekend, diners can fuel up for the big race Spanish-style with a carb-centric selection of dishes including: 

  • Fideua a la Valencia (paella but with noodles): Fideua noodles, chicken, rabbit, chorizo, roasted vegetables 
  • Squid Ink Pasta: Marcona almond pesto, shrimp, lemon migas 
  • Caldo de fideo: Toasted noodles, chorizo, garlic bread, broiled Manchego

Travelle at The Langham, Chicago

Travelle at The Langham, Chicago will be offering a specialty carb-loaded menu on Saturday, October 7. The menu will feature Rigatoni (San Marzano tomato, parmesan), Spaghetti Bolognese, Udon (mushrooms, 63-degree egg yolk, Masago arare) and Casarecce (sobacha, pecorino, black pepper).

Levain Bakery

To celebrate their love for marathons - and cookies - Levain Bakery will give a free cookie to every Chicago Marathon participant who shows their medal on October 8 at both bakeries: West Loop at 840 W. Randolph St. and River North at 408 N. Clark St.

Shula’s Steak House

Starting Friday, October 6 through Sunday, October 8, diners can choose pasta specials such as Gnocchi Al Brivido featuring potato gnocchi served with herb chicken breast, sun-dried tomatoes and grana cheese and tossed in a basil pine nut pesto sauce; Spaghetti Barese made with gluten-free spaghetti tossed in tuscan tomato sauce and served with veal meatballs, Italian sausage, roasted broccoli, and parmigiano reggiano cheese; or Vegan Fettuccine Al Burro featuring plant-based chick’n, spinach fettuccine, cauliflower cashew alfredo, fresh peas, roasted tomatoes, and black pepper. All specials are served with breadsticks for an extra boost of carbs. Reservations can be made via OpenTable. 

Staytion Market & Bar 

On Saturday, October 7, diners can choose a “Fuel Up Pasta Buffet” from 5 - 8 PM. Customize your meal and choose from pastas such as cheese tortellini, gluten-free Penne or whole wheat penne and toss it in a sauce of choice such as mushroom & caramelized onion alfredo, turkey bolognese, or pesto cream. Add a side salad for some crunch like a mixed green or caesar salad, or keep the carbs coming with a helping of lemon orzo salad. Reservations can be made via Tock. 

Michael Jordan’s Steak House Chicago 

From October 6th - 8th, dig into Spaghetti with Wagyu Meatball or a Tuna Poke Bowl with sticky rice, seaweed salad, diced tomato, cucumber and kimchi for a carb-fueled start to the festivities. Following Sunday’s race, a special Wagyu Bacon Cheeseburger will be offered at the bar or a Victory Tomahawk Steak with crispy sweet onions and blue cheese fondue.

The Florentine

On Friday, Oct. 6 and Saturday, October 7, The Florentine will offer a Create Your Own Pasta menu for $28 where diners can choose their choice of noodles (rigatoni, whole wheat spaghetti, gluten free penne) and sauce (marinara, aglio e olio, bolognese) with the option for add-ons. 

On the morning of the race, Sunday, October 8th, The Florentine will offer a grab & go breakfast that will feature bagels, english muffins ,an assortment of bread, fruit, yogurt parfait, and fresh juice. Full service dining begins at 6:15am.

Additionally, The Florentine will offer runners complimentary bottomless brunch beverages with the purchase of a brunch entrée on Sunday, 10/8 and Monday, 10/9. Must have bib as proof of participation.

The Godfrey

At The Godfrey Hotel post-race on October 8 your race bib will get you one free beer. The hotel will also have medal engraving, photo opportunities and more. The menu ($49/adult; $15/kids) will feature a carving station, pasta station, sliders, tacos, sushi and more.

Broken Shaker

On Saturday, October 7th from 4PM to close, Broken Shaker will be offering a never-ending pasta special, featuring unlimited Cacio E Pepe.

Bodega Taqueria y Tequila

Bodega Taqueria y Tequila will be inviting patrons participating in the Chicago Marathon to select a complimentary clasico taco when they show their medal or badge post-race. Available throughout the day on Sunday, October 8 only.

The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant

On October 8th, The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant is hosting a Marathon Buffet from 11am-3:30 pm. For $45 per person, the buffet includes options from Pimento Cheese Deviled Eggs, Buffalo-Style Tempura Cauliflower, a Firehouse Smoked Beef Brisket Chili Bar to a Game Day Mixed Grill complete with sausages, bratwurst and frankfurters. The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant will also be a Special Olympics cheering station during the marathon filled with face painting and a balloon artist from 11am-1pm.

Venteux

Ahead of the race on October 7th from 4pm-9pm, dine on their Pistu Pasta, featuring al dente pasta tossed in a sauce crafted from fresh herbs, pine nuts, garlic, and creme fraiche. On the day of the big event (Sunday, October 8th from 7am-4pm), flash your race bib to recieve a free draft beer of your choice + 20% your group’s bill. 

The Evie

On October 8th, The Evie is offering a 15% discount for tables with up to 4 people to runners who have completed the marathon. Bite into entrees ranging from a 30-day dry-aged charred prime beef ribeye to chili honey-glazed Faroe Island salmon, then toast to the evening from their selection of wines by the glass, bubbles, martinis and signature cocktails.

Bar Pendry

Exclusively available on Sundays, Bar Pendry's afternoon tea service includes a tower filled with seasonal bites like butternut squash espuma with apple, onion, and chervil and brown butter chai scones, with sweet apple butter and Devonshire cream. To pair with these snacks, choose from an assortment of Rare Tea Cellar teas, or order from a curated collection of alcoholic tea drinks, like the Holly Toddy, made with Suntory Toki Whiskey and Autumn Harvest Cranberry Apple tea from Rare Tea Cellars, or the slightly spicy Dream Punch, a communal, large-format cocktail made with Belvedere vodka and Gingerbread Dream Roobios tea. As you sip, live jazz music from Chicago vocalist, Myles Hayes.

Chateau Carbide

The bar at Chateau Carbide includes a wide selection of French, Swiss & contemporary absinthe varieties, personal drip fountain absinthe service, and a completely revamped cocktail menu, with drinks like Bonjour, a vodka-based cocktail with blueberry, curaçao, vanilla, and absinthe, topped with soda. For those looking to sample absinthe, the bar offers Montage, a curated flight which offers three 1-oz pours of absinthe varieties, both new and old. Between cocktails, a variety of bites, like milk bread lobster rolls, specialty Prairie Fruits Farm Chèvre with olives and confit tomatoes, and for dessert, white chocolate panna cotta.

Torali

The fine dining experience at The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago starts at Torali, a modern Italian steakhouse that overlooks Chicago from the 12th floor. Traditional antipasti and handmade pasta are featured alongside prime and dry-aged meats, Old World-inspired cocktails and fine wines. Curated by Executive Chef Guenther Moreno, Torali’s menu is inspired by the seasonal Midwest flavors, creating comfort food dishes. Options include Vegetable Risotto, Grilled Lambchops and Grilled Prime Cowgirl Rib-Eye.
