Cleo's Southern Cuisine

Chef Kristen Harper of Cleo's Southern Cuisine and her family recipes for fried chicken thighs, wings and tenders...and Chicken & Waffles. She established roots in the historic Bronzeville neighborhood in 2019 offering up fast-casual Creole southern comfort food, staffed completely by her family. She just recently expanded to a second location at Time Out Market Chicago.

Fry the Coop

With five locations (Chicago-West Town, Oak Lawn, Elmhurst, Prospect Heights & Tinley Park), this Nashville Hot Chicken joint provides a menu of sandwiches, tenders and Chicken & Waffles. Open since 2017, customers can choose five different heat levels along with sides and local beer.

Travelle at The Langham

Travelle at The Langham, Chicago (330 N Wabash Ave.) has some chicken dishes on the menu for poultry aficionados. Some chicken dishes include:

  • Chicken & Waffles with fried egg, maple glazed bacon, b&b pickles 
  • Butter Chicken with basmati rice, naan, cumin creama, apple amba, pea tendrils, cilantro (pictured below, available for brunch & lunch)
  • Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with secret dredge, buffalo sauce, ranch (available for brunch & lunch)
  • Chicken with butterball potatoes, heirloom tomatoes, haricot verts, nicoise olives (dinner)

Sunda New Asian

Sunda New Asian's (110 W Illinois St) Seoul Wings are brined and twice fried, then glazed with gochujang sauce, all topped with crushed peanuts and scallions.

KINTON RAMEN

KINTON RAMEN, the Japanese Ramen restaurant with outposts in the West Loop and Wicker Park neighborhoods is offering their Original or Hot Karaage fried chicken in bowls of Ramen this September. Japanese fried chicken served with garlic mayo and lemon (or chili sauce and aonori if you like it spicy), Karaage is available as a side dish at both locations. 

Lírica

Lírica is offering their take on fried chicken with the chef-crafted Mexican Chicken Sandwich. The  Sandwich is topped high with refried beans, Poblano chiles, red onions, lettuce, tomato and chipotle aioli.
