Inside the story: Urbanbelly to Relocate to Fulton Market in Partnership with Taratsa Hospitality Partners and Cornerstone Restaurant Group
Urbanbelly, the Asian comfort food restaurant created by Chicago Chef Bill Kim, will relocate to Chicago’s Fulton Market District in a new partnership between Cornerstone Restaurant Group, and Taratsa Hospitality Partners. The new location, slated to open in early May 2026 at 950 W. Fulton Street offers guests the opportunity to experience Chef Kim’s menu in a new neighborhood. The restaurant’s relocation marks the next chapter for the Urbanbelly brand.
Originally opened in 2008, Urbanbelly became known for its flavors and Chef Kim’s signature approach to blending Asian traditions with modern comfort food.
The new Fulton Market location represents a return to the neighborhood for Urbanbelly following its previous presence at BellyQ as well as Time Out Market Chicago. The relocation also coincides with the closing of its Wicker Park restaurant planned for late April 2026. This new standalone restaurant brings Urbanbelly back to Fulton Market while introducing the brand to a new audience of residents, professionals, and visitors.
The Fulton Market location will feature a menu rooted in Urbanbelly’s signature dishes, including Bill’s Bao Buns, Spicy Katsu Ramen, Korean Fried Chicken, and Coconut Curry Pho. The menu will bring back many of Chef Kim’s longtime favorites alongside new and exclusive dishes created specifically for the Fulton Market location. The restaurant will also feature a full bar program with cocktails designed to complement the menu. Building on the brand’s blend of Asian flavors while introducing new ideas, this partnership allows Chef Kim and the Urbanbelly team to continue evolving their culinary perspective while staying grounded in what has worked for nearly two decades.
“Urbanbelly has always been a reflection of my journey, blending the flavors I grew up with into something personal and approachable,” says Executive Chef Bill Kim. “Fulton Market is a chance to keep evolving while staying true to our creative flavors and sense of community. I’m excited to bring it back to the neighborhood and share our vision with both longtime and new guests.”
Fulton Market will continue Urbanbelly’s tradition of approachable dishes inspired by Chef Kim’s Korean heritage, global travels, and bringing people together through food. The new space features an updated design, full bar, expanded menu offerings and an indoor/outdoor dining experience including a corner outdoor patio.
The restaurant will be part of a larger hospitality complex at 950 W. Fulton Street, developed and operated by Taratsa Hospitality Partners. The multi-concept destination spans more than 24,000 square feet and brings together several food, beverage, and entertainment experiences under one roof in the Fulton Market District.
Taratsa Hospitality Partners was formed in late 2024 by Alan Cichon, former President of Avli Hospitality Group, along with a team from Avli including former Avli investors Evanston Partners. In addition to the upcoming Urbanbelly, the complex includes Morgan’s on Fulton, a year round two-level with rooftop private event venue; Pitaki, a Greek fast-casual restaurant; live music venue The Wild Hare and a soon-to-be announced fifth concept.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with the team at CRG and Chef Kim” says William Glastris, Managing Member of Evanston Partners. “We believe that Urbanbelly is an ideal fit with our corner location at Fulton Market and North Morgan Street. Our neighbors already know and love the food and can now experience it in a fun and exciting new way”.
Cornerstone Restaurant Group, the Chicago-based hospitality company known for its portfolio of chef-driven restaurants and strategic partnerships, will support the new Urbanbelly location through brand strategy, marketing, and operational expertise. Cornerstone has worked alongside Chef Bill Kim for many years, partnering with him on a range of concepts and initiatives, including Table at Crate, the restaurant inside Crate & Barrel’s Oak Brook flagship store, as well as Chef Kim’s restaurant projects in Korea and other collaborative ventures. The new Urbanbelly in Fulton Market represents the next evolution of that long-standing relationship as the teams continue working together to grow the Urbanbelly brand and expand Chef Kim’s culinary vision.
Additional details on the opening date, menu, and design of the new Urbanbelly Fulton Market location will be announced in the coming weeks.
