Wednesday, May 1st marks the return of the Uptown Farmers Market Presented by Chicago Market, an open-air market located in the Sunnyside Mall.

As the market gears up to open for its fourth season, this year will look even bigger than years past. Last season’s market saw an average of 25 vendors per week, while this season looks to present shoppers and browsers with a minimum of 30 vendors each Wednesday afternoon.

Uptown Farmers Market Presented by Chicago Market has partnered with a handful of vendors, such as Los Rodriguez Farm, Andrew’s Heirlooms, Smiling M Farms, Tamales Express, and John Bailey Honey (to name a few) since first opening, and they’re to present attendees with an array of new vendors this year: Spicy Grrrls Hot Sauces, Marek’s Authentic Polish Food, Keep It Savory Salt Co. Refresco by MO, Avrom Farm’s Chicken & Waffles, Zaikadelic.

Aside from the list of vendor participants, Uptown Farmers Market also provides compostable BioBags to vendors every week, saving them bag costs and avoiding plastic bags in the environment. The market also has composting available onsite. In addition to paid vendor slots, the market ensures weekly Community Corner tabling opportunities to community organizations at no charge so that they may connect with market shoppers. The market also accepts SNAP and offers Link Match, which doubles SNAP purchases on local fruits and vegetables.

And the weekly market also serves as a place to learn more about Chicago Market - A Community Co-op set to open in Uptown in early 2025. Those interested can visit the Chicago Market booth to learn about the grocery store’s progress, becoming an Owner, and what types of products will be available to shoppers once the store opens.

The market is also dog friendly and features a rotating lineup of live music each week.

Uptown Farmers Market Presented by Chicago Market will be open every Wednesday, through November 6th, from 2:30pm - 7pm, rain or shine.
