Top Chicago Sommeliers Go Head-to-Head in Inaugural Acanto Wine Challenge

On Monday, February 23, Acanto's Wine Director Jon McDaniel reincarnates the popular "Somm Slam" with the first-ever Acanto Wine Gladiator Challenge. The event unites a "who's who" of top Chicago sommeliers that will flex their wine muscles and duke it out in Acanto's friendly coliseum.

Guests have a front row seat as some of the best in the wine industry go head-to-head, pairing wines with Executive Chef Chris Gawronski's regional Italian fare. During a five-course dinner, two sommeliers will pair each course with a wine that they believe best matches the dish. Guests will then choose their favorite between the two, ultimately deciding the somm-gladiator champion of the course. Culminating the event, diners will vote for the best wine pairing of the evening, deciding the final Acanto Wine Gladiator winner!
