Billy Helmkamp (The Whistler, Logan Square Arts Festival) has announced the first-ever Chicago Cocktail Summit! Taking place in May 22-23 at the Logan Theatre, this event brings together bar and restaurant professionals as well as consumer and home cocktail enthusiasts for two days packed with seminars, demos, tastings, panel discussions and networking events hosted by a wide array of Chicago’s most noted industry professionals.
SUNDAY, MAY 22, 2016: FOR CONSUMERS AND HOME COCKTAIL ENTHUSIASTS
Sunday’s program will be curated specifically for consumers and home cocktail enthusiasts with a mix of beginner and intermediate level seminars and panel discussions. Topics such as cocktail history, bitters production, ingredient manipulation, and drink-making techniques will be examined. Programming will run from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
MONDAY, MAY 23, 2016: FOR BAR AND RESTAURANT PROFESSIONALS
Monday will feature more advanced programming geared towards bar and restaurant professionals. Topics will include in-depth spirits analysis, the science behind clear ice, modern bartending techniques, how to utilize social media to build your personal brand, and tips on how to run a successful beverage program. Programming will run from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The Logan Theatre’s lounge will serve as the venue for morning mingle for attendees during registration as well as an exclusive tasting room for premium ticket holders. Brands will have tables set up with spirits and cocktail tastings featuring their latest products. There will also be a number of off-site events and tastings at local bars and restaurants to supplement the Cocktail Summit’s after hours programming.
