Rooftop Now Open Wicker Park

June 11th marks the opening of the Kennedy Rooftop, 1551 West North Avenue, Chicago’s newest rooftop venue complete with unobstructed city views that span from the John Hancock to the Willis Tower. Aptly named as it is situated just off the Kennedy Expressway atop the brand-new Hyatt Place Chicago / Wicker Park, the venue will pay homage to the fabric that makes up its surroundings through everything from the design and décor to the craft cocktail menu. The 7,500 square foot oasis will house indoor and outdoor seating, fire pits, outdoor games including life-size Jenga and more for guests to enjoy. Due to restrictions from the local government in the city’s current phase of re-opening, Kennedy Rooftop will begin service offering limited seating in their  outdoor lounge area.

At its core, Kennedy Rooftop will serve as a hub for the community, all the while highlighting the culture and ambience of the neighborhood. Donning bright orange and blue hues throughout, the design creates a ambiance that adds to the fun. The entrance of the venue will share space with the hotel’s seventh-floor lobby, decorated with art works that have been crafted by local Chicago artists.

Honoring its namesake, the rooftop bar will offer a craft cocktail menu that plays off of Presidents past. Most notably, “The JFK” will be a rotating cocktail released monthly, as Kennedy himself was known for never having nailed down a signature drink. Among others include “Reagan’s Orange Blossom,” comprised of Ketel One Orange Botanical Vodka, fresh Orange juice, lemon, simple syrup, Orange bitters and club soda, and the “The FDR,” made with Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva Rum, Giffard Abricot, fresh lime, simple syrup, Q Ginger Beer and Myers Rum Float.

From the kitchen, guests should anticipate a range of offerings from simple small plates to dishes including the Wicker Wich, assembled with oven-baked cilantro lime chicken, layered high with toppings and served on a toasted brioche bun, as well as vegetarian and vegan options, including the Beyond Delicious Burger, topped with smashed avocado, oven-roasted tomatoes, citrus arugula mix, fresh house-made salsa and served on a toasted brioche bun.

Opening responsibly in a socially-distant climate, Kennedy Rooftop plans to work diligently to protect the safety of both the guests and staff members alike, closely monitoring and adhering to both local and federal guidelines and ordinances as the city continues to advance in its multi-level plan to re-open.

Kennedy Rooftop will be open to guests seven days a week and is located on the seventh floor of Hyatt Place Chicago / Wicker Park, just off the Kennedy Expressway at North and Ashland. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 4 p.m. – 11 p.m., Friday 4 p.m. – 12 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
