The Cauldron Chicago, a magic and wizard-themed restaurant and bar, announces the opening of its alchemy-style speakeasy, The Vault. Located inside the bank's safety deposit vault, The Vault will offer a range of signature molecular cocktails that showcase science. The speakeasy-style bar is set to open on June 9.

“We’re excited to offer the city of Chicago a new speakeasy-style experience,” says Co-Founder David Duckworth. “Our competitive cocktail program was specifically designed for Chicagoans that speaks to fantasy, science, and craft cocktails lovers. We are incredibly excited to open our doors and launch a product Chicago hasn't yet seen".

The are cocktails designed by The Cauldron’s co-founder David Duckworth and their team of cocktail "Magicineers," led by mixologist Pablo Moreno. The bar team is led by new Hospitality Advisor, Ken McGarrie.  All drinks will be interactive and feature different effects—smoke, ice, spherification, expansion, color change, clarification, and love.

As an ode to Chicago, The Cauldron team has also partnered with CH Distillery to offer Chicagoans a selection of 10 specialty Jeppson's Malört-based cocktails, including the Michigan Avenue, Death by Pineapple, Chicago Coffee, The Cosmos Doesn’t Like You, and A Dance With The Devil. These cocktails showcase Wormwood, which is an ingredient found in Malört and throughout real magical history. The company has issued a warning that customers are limited 2 per person.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with The Cauldron and celebrating the magical qualities of wormwood and Jeppson’s Malort!,” said Tremain Atkinson, co-founder of Chicago-based CH Distillery

In addition to the Malört-based cocktails, The Vault will serve twists on classic cocktails such as "The Ode to Mullica"—a bourbon and maple cocktail served in a smoking bell jar, and "The Blob"—an aloe and tequila cocktail with an expanding head. The concept's British roots are showcased in "The Cauldron Stiff Tea"—Earl Grey, orange marmalade, and gin. The Cauldron's love potion, "Damiana's Charm," uses Damiana—a natural aphrodisiac as a sprinkled raspberry garnish.
