Food Festival Charity Event Evanston

Taste of Evanston is a North Shore food festival! This year’s event will feature some of the city’s restaurants, breweries and wine shops on the great lawn of the historic Charles Gates Dawes House (225 Greenwood Street Evanston, IL) on Sunday, September 17 from 3-6 p.m.

The festival menu will include dishes from top Evanston restaurants such as Alcove, Bluestone, C&W Market/Ice Cream Parlor, Coffee Lab, Cupitol, Dozika, Firehouse Grill, Graduate Homestead Room, Habibi In Mediterranean Grill, Kansaku, Koi, La Principal, Mid Kitchen, Mt. Everest, NaKorn, Noir d'Ebene, Peckish Pig, Reza's, Siam Paragon, Soul & Smoke, Stacked and Folded, Sweet Temptations, Taco Diablo, Ten Mile House, The Supreme Burrito #1, and YoFresh Café. Beer and wine will be provided by Double Clutch Brewing Company, Vinissimo Wine Shop and The Wine Goddess. While sampling food and drink, guests will be offered a view of the lakefront, live music, and a silent auction, all while helping to solve one of Evanston’s most pressing issues, housing insecurity. Thousands of Evanston residents (nurses, firefighters, seniors, teachers, people with disabilities and more) are paying over fifty percent of their income to housing and are having to choose between necessities such as food and medicine and keeping a roof over their head.

Evanston Lighthouse Rotary Club’s annual fundraiser Taste of Evanston is helping by raising money for two organizations that are addressing the problem: Connections for the Homeless, a non-profit organization that helps individuals and families that are homeless or threatened with homelessness to achieve stable housing, and Reba Place Development Corporation – an organization that develops safe, decent, and affordable housing that demonstrates how the diverse racial and cultural groups in Evanston can thrive together. Reba Place also sponsors and supports a range of affordable housing options, including modestly priced rental units, housing coops, and affordable condominiums. A portion of the proceeds will also support the ongoing philanthropic efforts of the Evanston Lighthouse Rotary Club. Rotary brings together a global network of volunteer leaders who dedicate their time and talent to tackle humanitarian challenges.

Tickets are on sale through September 16. Day of event tickets will be available at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. The adult ticket price of $95 includes all food and beverages. Tickets for students aged 12-21 are $50 and children (under 12) are $20. Fifty percent of the ticket price is tax deductible.

Not able to attend the Taste of Evanston this year? You can still contribute to the cause by either participating in the online silent auction or making a donation. For more information visit TasteOfEvanston.org.
