Summer Has Officially Arrived in Chicago as Castaways Beach Club Reopens for the 2026 Season

Memorial Day Weekend has long been considered the unofficial start of summer in Chicago — and despite a cooler-than-usual forecast to kick things off, the city’s lakefront favorite is officially back in action. Castaways Beach Club has reopened for the 2026 season at North Avenue Beach, ready for another summer of rooftop parties, frozen cocktails, beach days, sunsets, and skyline views along Lake Michigan.

This season brings a mix of returning crowd favorites alongside several new menu additions from the culinary team. New offerings include Pork Belly Bao Buns, Crispy Rice Shrimp Skewers, and Yuzu Beignets, joining longtime guest favorites like the Whipped Ricotta, Shrimp Ceviche, Chicken Caesar Wrap, and Watermelon Cucumber Salad.

Of course, no summer at Castaways would be complete without the signature frozen drinks and beach cocktails that have become synonymous with the venue. Guests can once again enjoy large-format cocktail experiences that made waves last summer, including the over-the-top Jaws of the Lake — designed for groups looking to be the center of attention — the playful Chicago Bucket List served in a sand pail with gummy sharks, and the Colossal Colada, a frozen piña colada presented inside a cored pineapple.

The summer event calendar officially begins this weekend with the return of Club Capri, a European-inspired rooftop party series by Thank You For Dancing that blends coastal Italian energy with live music and sparklers after sunset. The first event takes place this afternoon, Saturday, May 23, with a limited number of tickets still available. Nine additional Club Capri dates are scheduled throughout the summer.

Tonight also marks the return of the popular Navy Pier summer fireworks series, visible from Castaways’ south deck overlooking the lakefront skyline.

Electronic music fans can also look forward to the return of Arc at the Lake, the venue’s annual house and techno summer series featuring 17 dates throughout the season. This year’s lineup includes globally recognized artists and dance music heavyweights including Sasha, Nick Warren, Deep Dish, BLOND:ISH, and Lee Foss.

Returning for 2026 as well is the fan-favorite Let’s Do Fun Things salsa series, where guests can learn salsa dancing or simply show off their moves as the sun sets over the lake. All experience levels are welcome.

One of the signature weekends of the summer will once again be Chicago’s annual Chicago Air and Water Show, taking place Friday, August 14 (practice day), Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16. Castaways Beach Club’s all-inclusive rooftop watch party has become one of the city’s premier viewing experiences for the event, offering unobstructed lakefront views directly along the show route.
