One Off Hospitality is maximizing these warm weather months with several events that celebrate food, drinks, sunshine and a slew of special guests. Join DC-based chef Johnny Spero of Reverie as he teams up with Blackbird’s Ryan Pfeiffer for a multi-course dinner; Publican Quality Meats’ Heritage Breed series featuring a Guinea Hog demo and tasting from Head Butcher Rob Leavitt and swing by Big Star as Christina Tosi’s Milk Bar pop-ups at the Wicker Park taco spot.

Publican Quality Meats Heritage Breed Monthly Series

  • Date: Friday, June 28
  • Time: 6 p.m.-9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. demo by Rob Leavitt
  • Location: Publican Quality Meats (825 W. Fulton Market)
  • Details: In this meaty series, guests can dig into charcuterie boards and happy hour specials with a side of culinary knowledge, courtesy of PQM Head Butcher Rob Leavitt. This month, Leavitt digs into the American Guinea Hog, showcasing its characteristics while providing a live butchering and curing demo. Specialty boards, $5 wine by the glass, $3 tap pours and complimentary cider courtesy of Virtue Cider.

  • Details: Publican Quality Meats celebrates a sacred summer ritual — burger night! — with a little friendly competition, as notable chefs go head to head to create their best burger. A PQM tradition since 2012, the event also features bourbon, beer and other beverages, with the winner determined by number of burgers sold.

Pfeiffer and Friends Dinner Series at Blackbird

  • Date: Sunday, July 7
  • Time: Reception at 6 p.m., seated dinner at 6:30 p.m.

  • Details: Blackbird’s Executive Chef Ryan Pfeiffer is inviting his chef friends into the kitchen to collaborate on multi-course meals in the restaurant’s private dining space. Next up: Johnny Spero, executive chef and owner of Reverie in Washington D.C. The eight-course menu — complete with beverage pairings — includes dishes like sturgeon with banana leaf and kimchi, roasted lamb with pomegranate and wild allspice and a forest-inspired dessert with spruce, birch and root beer. 

Pig Star Summer Roast Series

  • Time: 5 p.m.-10 p.m.
  • Location: Big Star Wicker Park (1531 N. Damen Ave.)
  • Details: This summer, Big Star welcomes alumni and friends of One Off Hospitality to post up on the patio, fire up the grill, cook up a whole pig and showcase their skills with different dishes. This month features chef Jacob Saban of Cira, who will whip up 2-3 menu items, available while supplies last. 

Big Star x Milk Bar Collaboration

  • Date: Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21
  • Time: 12 p.m.-5 p.m.
  • Location: Big Star Wicker Park (1531 N. Damen Ave.)
  • Details: Proving that tacos, beer and bourbon can be made better, Christina Tosi’s Milk Bar posts up in front of Big Star Wicker Park as part of the first-ever All You Can Treat Tour. They’re bringing signature Milk Bar items — think Compost Cookies, Milk Bar Pie, soft serve and more — to select cities across the country via the Milk Bar Ice Cream Truck (a vintage 1969 Chevy p10 postal truck), along with limited-edition merchandise, collaboration items and other surprises.
