State and Lake Chicago Tavern is celebrating Oktoberfest by offering guests a collection of German inspired cuisine beginning Friday, September 21 through Monday, October 8 starting at 4 pm each day. From traditional dishes like Pork Schnitzel and a sweet German pancake to German Märzen draft beers, locals will be offered a taste of Germany without leaving the city.

Over the two weeks, guests at State and Lake Chicago Tavern will have the opportunity to experience Germany with menu items including house made Aged Cheddar Soft Pretzel with creamy apple mustard, Local Folks grainy mustard, and Pleasant Ridge Reserve cheese,Pork Schnitzel with braised leeks and potatoes, marinated mushrooms, fennel, shaved pears and mustard seed oil. The sweets selection includes Chestnuts and Cream which is the restaurant’s version of a classic Monte Blanc dessert, with crunchy meringue, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, plum preserves and nutty chestnut and Pumpkin Kaiserschmarrn, a fluffy pumpkin pancake seared in butter to order and serve jumbled over cream cheese frosting and topped with frozen dulcey mousse and boozy currants.

Prost to the Oktoberfest season with a selection of German Märzen drafts including a Metropolitan Afterburner, and Great Central Festzelt. Guests will even have the option to drink out of a two liter boot for $37.

Regular hours of operation for State and Lake Chicago Tavern are Mon – Thurs: 6:30 am – 11 pm, Fri: 6:30 am – 2 am, Sat: 7am – 2am, Sun: 7 am – 10 pm.
