Food Holiday

Attention, bacon (and bacon donut) lovers: Stan’s Bacon Maple Bar is back.

Stan's Donuts and Coffee has teamed up with artisanal charcuterie maker and delicatessen Tempesta to relaunch the donut just in time for International Bacon Day, Saturday, Aug. 31.

To sweeten up the savory holiday, Stan’s will give away a select number of Bacon Maple Bars at all 12 of its stores. The first 25 guests at each store who order the Bacon Maple Bar on Saturday, Aug. 31 using the password “Tempted by Tempesta” at the register will receive their donut for free.

Stan’s Bacon Maple Bar ($3.99) features a yeast donut topped with house-made maple glaze and a piece of candied Tempesta bacon. It joins Stan’s permanent donut lineup, which will also include the new Birthday Cake Donut on Friday, September 6.

Tempesta, the family-owned Chicago salumeria, is known for its cured meats and ‘nduja, the spicy, spreadable salami, hailing from the family’s hometown of Calabria, Italy. As part of the partnership with Stan’s, Tempesta will sell Stan's Bacon Maple Bars on weekends at its West Town market and deli at 1372 W. Grand Ave.
