What to know about Smack Shack Hosts Crayfest on August 20th

In celebration of crayfish season, Smack Shack Chicago, the recently opened coastal seafood concept in the West Loop, will host its first annual Crayfest on Saturday, August 20 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets include an all-you-can-eat Louisiana-style crayfish boil, prepared in Smack Shack’s custom metal 100-gallon boil in a broth of Old Bay seasoning and onions. The crayfish will be served with red potatoes, corn on the cob, coastal slaw and griddled milk bread.

Tickets are available now through the day of the event for $20 at Nighout.com.

The ticket price includes one of the restaurant’s signature Hurricanes, a seasonal selection, which currently features Captain Morgan White and Black Rums, orange, pineapple, lime, grenadine and passionfruit. Additional Hurricanes will be available for a special price of $5.

Attendees can also enjoy music by the Four Star Brass Band between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. This six-piece band includes full rhythm and horn sections, as well the quintessential sousaphone, a staple of the genre. Crayfest is a nod to Smack Shack Minneapolis’ annual Crayfest, a block party in the city’s North Loop.  Next year, Chicagoans can look forward to a similar block party as the Chicago location plans to host its own.
