The Rundown

Schneider Deli is bringing back its Guest Chef Sandwich Series for a second season at both its Lincoln Park and River North locations. Beginning Aug. 1 and running through January 2027, six Chicago chefs will collaborate with co-owner Jake Schneider on exclusive, limited-edition sandwiches that put their own spin on the lunchtime staple.

Last year's inaugural series featured collaborations with Mindy Segal and her Roasted Turkey Melt with Jus; Lee Wolen and his Chicken Schnitzel sandwich; and Zach Engel and his Harvest Lamb Shawarma Sandwich.

This year's lineup is bringing together chefs from MICHELIN-starred restaurants, James Beard Award winners and nominees and neighborhood favorites:

  • AUGUST: Chef Daniel Koester of Bad Butter
  • SEPTEMBER: Chef/Butcher Rob Levitt of The Publican and Publican Quality Meats
  • OCTOBER: Chef Billy Federighi of Pizz'Amici
  • NOVEMBER: Chef Jenner Tomaska of The Alston, Esmé and Petite Edith
  • DECEMBER: Chef Marcus Rasmussen of Gaijin
  • JANUARY: Chef Tayler Ploshehanski of Creepies

Kicking things off in August is Chef Daniel of Bad Butter. Together with Jake, he created a Turkey Focaccia Sandwich, aka The Dan, layered with roasted turkey, burrata, arugula, heirloom tomato and spicy aioli on confit garlic and rosemary focaccia, baked exclusively for the Guest Chef Sandwich Series.

And it’s all for a good cause: 10% of proceeds from each Sandwich Series collaboration will benefit a charity selected by that month’s featured chef. Proceeds from Chef Dan’s August sandwich will benefit ALIVE Rescue, a no-kill haven for animals based in Chicago.
