Sanfratello's Pizza, Chicago's original Southside pizza since 1969, is opening its first north side location. The fifth location is company-owned and is celebrating its grand opening on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 1299 S. Naper Blvd. in Naperville.
To celebrate the company's venture to the north, Sanfratello’s is giving away two styles of Southside pizza – tavern style thin crust and pan. From 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on March 30th, all carryout guests will receive a free small cheese thin-crust or pan-style pizza. Other festivities include a chance to win free pizza for a year, trivia contests, and raffles for SWAG and gift cards.
Sanfratello's is well known for their tavern-style "party cut" (square cut) pizza that originated on Chicago's south side.
“It's time to share Chicago’s OTHER pizza with Northsiders," says Joe Sanfratello, Jr, son of founder Joe Sr. “Sanfratello's is the only pizzeria that still uses the original Southside combination of Scamorza cheese, Chicago meats and a scratch-made Sicilian sauce that lets the flavor of the tomatoes shine through.”
Sanfratello’s has installed classic deck ovens to ensure their pizza tastes the same way it did in 1969. The family is Sicilian, which means that they are somewhat obsessive about good food and never skimp on quality – the sauces are made with vine-ripened tomatoes that have a powerful full-bodied taste unlike any other. The company’s commitment to using 100% Scamorza cheese in their signature thin crust pizza, costs them a bit more, but pays off with its robust flavor and dense texture that holds up to high heat, so the crust can be baked to golden perfection without overcooking the cheese.
The Naperville take-out and delivery location follows the company's recent opening of a similar store in Gilbert, Arizona. The expansion is being fueled by lifelong friends of second-generation owner Joe, who are all aficionados of the Sanfratello's brand of pizza.
