Robert’s Pizza & Dough Co. (465 North McClurg Court) in Streeterville has announced a partnership with Michael Bloom to debut the release of the new Rivalry Blend. To celebrate, Robert’s Pizza will be hosting a special tasting event on Wednesday, May 11th from 5pm – 7pm with special bites to complement the spirit.

A whiskey enthusiast with an adventurous spirit, Michael Bloom has been blending and barrel aging spirits at home for years. During the lockdown over the COVID-19 pandemic, Bloom produced The Rivalry Blend - a marriage of whiskeys from eight Illinois and Wisconsin distilleries. The blend, in partnership with Barrel and Bottle’s co-founder Dave Sweet, is a first step towards a commercial 50 State Blend in the months to come.

“Passion and perseverance in the home kitchen,” says Robert Garvey, owner of Robert’s Pizza & Dough Co., “is something we understand and respect. We are honored to help Michael and Rivalry launch their new whisky. We’re excited be the first Restaurant to carry the blend and can’t wait for our guests to try it.”

Bloom & Garvey met long before The Rivalry Blend was even an idea. The business owners met through their daughters who became friends while attending The University of Chicago’s Laboratory School. 

To celebrate the new blend, Robert’s Pizza is hosting a special Whiskey Wednesday event on May 11th from 5pm – 7pm with bites to complement the spirit. Guests will have a chance to taste the spirit straight or as the main ingredient in whiskey-forward cocktails alongside a variety of bites from the Robert’s kitchen. Robert Garvey, Michael Bloom, and Dave Sweet will be in attendance to discuss their journeys and upcoming projects.

The Rivalry Blend is now available as a spirit at Robert’s Pizza & Dough Co.
