Reporting notes: Roanoke Hospitality Introduces Two Italian Inspired Concepts to Streeterville This Month
Roanoke Hospitality, the Chicago-based restaurant group, announces the expansion of its La Bella Trattoria concept in the Loop with a new Streeterville location, La Bella Trattoria on Rush. Opening to diners on Friday, May 15 at the corner of Rush St. and Erie St., the Italian dining experience will bring a fresh chapter to one of Chicago's corridors at 101 E. Erie St.
La Bella Trattoria on Rush will be open daily from 11am – 10 pm and will span classic Italian and Italian-American favorites from fresh, handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza to fresh seafood, hearty antipasti and signature desserts, served alongside a mixology-driven cocktail menu, curated wine list and zero-proof offerings. Under the culinary direction of Executive Chef Jacob Arenas in a collaboration with the hospitality group's VP of Culinary Chef Rick Tramonto. Featuring a design-forward 50 seat restaurant showcasing a centerpiece bar, La Bella Trattoria on Rush was designed to bring people together from the first bite to the last. The restaurant will also offer Chicago access to its expansive 60-seat outdoor patio.
Central to the La Bella Trattoria on Rush culinary experience is a signature Neo-Neapolitan pizza program: a modern American style that takes the DNA of traditional Neapolitan pizza and adapts it for the way Americans actually eat. The result is a pie that looks artisanal and unmistakably Italian, yet eats like something made to be picked up, folded, and shared at the table. The foundation begins with a 24-hour cold-fermented dough crafted from double-zero flour sourced from Le 5 Stagioni in Parma, Italy, widely regarded as Italy’s premier pizza flour, alongside Sicilian sea salt and olive oil, with no preservatives and no shortcuts. The wheat is sourced globally, lab-tested, and precision-blended to yield a dough strong enough to withstand a full-day ferment yet tender enough to stretch by hand. The pies are finished in an oven running at approximately 540°F, a lower temperature to allow a longer bake that develops the crust’s signature color, crispness, and structure.
"La Bella Trattoria on Rush represents a natural and exciting evolution of what we have built with La Bella Trattoria Loop, and it has been such a special concept to bring to life alongside our talented team. We are building an experience that goes far beyond a great meal, but one that honors the Italian traditions at the core of everything Roanoke Hospitality stands for while bringing something completely fresh and unforgettable to this city. We cannot wait for Chicago to taste what we have been working on."
La Bella Trattoria on Rush will serve lunch and dinner daily, along with a weekday happy hour program and weekend brunch service. For more information on La Bella Trattoria on Rush, visit https://www.labellachicago.com/locations/la-bella-river-north.

Altezza Rooftop, the newest concept from Chicago-based Roanoke Hospitality, is set to open May 28 at 101 E. Erie St., bringing an Italian-inspired rooftop experience to Streeterville.
The new rooftop’s menu, built by Executive Chef Jacob Arenas in collaboration with the group’s VP of Culinary two-time James Beard Award Winner and Michelin Chef Rick Tramonto, will take its cues from Italy's aperitivo tradition: a culture built around elevated small-plate dining and craft cocktails meant for savoring slowly. The cocktail program will spotlight original creations rooted in seasonal, Italian-forward flavors, complemented by a selection of shareable small plates and wood-fired pizzas for something more substantial.
“We’ve designed the Altezza Rooftop experience to bring the warmth of the aperitivo culture to Chicago,” said Bryan Gerrish, CEO of Roanoke Hospitality. “We want guests to come up to the rooftop, slow down in our gorgeous space, have a bite to eat and feel like they have the whole city to themselves for a few hours.”
Reservations are available via OpenTable. To stay updated on the opening, diners can follow @altezzarooftopon social media.
