Postino will make its Midwest debut this fall with a new location at Mellody Farm in Vernon Hills. The all-day restaurant and wine bar is scheduled to open in fall 2026 at 887 N. Milwaukee Ave., Unit 400, marking the latest step in the brand’s expansion across the U.S.
The restaurant will occupy a 3,708-square-foot interior with a 900-square-foot patio. Design elements will include a seasonal enclosed patio, in-house custom millwork, an art wall made from vintage printing blocks, historical neighborhood photography and stained-glass window panels. Other Postino design elements include mid-century modern furnishings, found objects, art installations, roll-up garage doors and custom walnut wine walls.
“We knew Vernon Hills was the right fit for Postino’s first Midwest location from the start,” said Postino Co-Founder and CEO Lauren Bailey. “The community’s welcoming spirit and growing dining scene really resonated with us, and we could immediately see Postino fitting right in. We are excited to become part of this incredible neighborhood and welcome everyone through our doors!”
Postino’s menu centers on bruschetta, paninis, salads, charcuterie boards and shareable plates. The beverage program will feature more than 20 wines by the glass, Illinois craft beverages including Right Bee Cider, Italian-inspired spritzes, seasonal cocktails and zero-proof options. Daily specials will include $6 glasses of wine from the main lineup and $6 pitchers of beer, while the Monday and Tuesday Bottle & Board special after 8 p.m. pairs a bottle of wine with a bruschetta board for $25. The restaurant will also participate in Postino’s Bottle Club wine membership program.
The name Postino comes from the Italian word for postman, referencing the 1940s post office that housed the brand’s original location more than 25 years ago. While individual restaurants incorporate design elements tied to their neighborhoods, the concept is built around serving as a casual gathering place for dining and drinks throughout the day.
Postino Vernon Hills will be open daily beginning at 11 a.m. for lunch and dinner.
