What to watch: Portland’s Chef Carlo Lamagna Makes His Way to Chicago for a Filipino Midwest Dinner at Daisies
Making his way to the city on Tuesday, June 20th is Carlo Lamagna, the mind behind Portland’s modern Filipino restaurant Magna Kusina as well as offshoot Magna Kubo and soon to open Magna Kainan in Denver. Chef Carlo is linking up with longtime industry friend Chef Joe Frillman of Logan Square’s pasta and veggie-focused restaurant, Daisies, to present a one-night-only four-course "Midwest Filipino” menu at Daisies’ newly-opened location.
Chef Joe draws inspiration from local ingredients to infuse Midwestern traditions into the evening's dishes. Meanwhile, Chef Carlo injects a spirit rooted in his Filipino heritage. Together, they've created a fusion menu, where Chef Joe's locally-sourced fare meets Chef Carlo's flavors. For the final course of the evening, Executive Pastry Chef and Partner Leigh Omilinsky pays homage to her Italian and French patisserie background and fondness for nostalgic sweets in a collaborative dessert with Chef Carlo.
Reservations are available on a rolling basis between 5:30pm - 9pm, and can be made on Tock.
