Pippin’s Tavern, located at 39 E. Chicago Ave., will host a special fundraiser in support of Get Behind the Vest on Wednesday, October 12 at 5:30 p.m. in an effort to raise funds for replacement vests for Chicago Police Officers.

Open in Chicago since 1974, Pippin’s Tavern has recently relocated, rebranded, and now serves modern American cuisine under the direction of Executive Chef Amanda Barnes. Guests in attendance will be able to choose from a curated food and beverage selection from the scratch, farm-to-table menu. Passed hors d'oeuvres of the evening will feature menu items including fried smashed fingerling potatoes with caviar, crème fraiche, and chives, beef heart meatballs with tomato sauce and parmesan, burrata di bufala with toasted ciabatta, grilled peaches and chamomile vinegar, the signature Pippin’s burger, and more.

The Get Behind the Vest fundraiser will be hosted in partnership with 2nd Ward Alderman Brian Hopkins and Committeeman Tim Egan. Individual tickets are $100 and can be purchased here, along with various sponsorship participation levels. The Get Behind the Vest initiative was started in 2014 by the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation in an effort to raise funds for replacement bulletproof vests for Chicago police officers. While officers receive their first vest at no cost, officers must pay for subsequent protective vests every five years, at $500 per vest.

“We are forever grateful to the police officers who put their lives on the line every day to keep our city safe,” said President and CEO of Lodge Management Group Lyn McKeaney. “Vests are essential in protecting officers, and we are honored at LMG to support the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation in their mission.”

The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to honoring the lives of our fallen heroes and assisting those heroes in need. The Foundation provides support and assistance to the families of Chicago police officers who are killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty.
