“Omakase Cruise” Comes to the Chicago River, from Chicago Boat Company & TenGoku Aburiya

Chef Sangtae Park’s TenGoku Aburiya just debuted its NEW late-night hand roll omakase experience, and now, the sushi masters are setting sail with this new service on the Chicago River. The izakaya is teaming up with Chicago Boat Company, the crew behind Chicago river experiences like the hot tub boats and fleet of adorable Duffy boats, for a Party Barge Omakase Cruise on Monday, October 5.

For 90 minutes, Chef Danny Rodriguez will serve an eight-course omakase right on the water, bringing TenGoku’s Japanese-inspired fare and fresh fish from Tokyo’s Toyosu Market aboard a party barge. The menu will feature hand rolls like Akami Zuke, with soy-marinated bluefin tuna and freshly grated wasabi, and Unagi Tamago, featuring grilled eel, alongside other selections. The cruise will be BYOB, so guests can bring their favorite beverages to pair with each bite, or add on craveable concoctions from TenGoku’s bar team at checkout to sip as you cruise up and down the river.

Cruises are scheduled at 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., with all departures from Water Plaza on the Riverwalk, between the LaSalle and Wells Street bridges. Limited tickets are now available on RESY.
