Context and background: Oberweis to Open First-Ever Scoop Shop within Giordano's in Naperville

This spring, Oberweis, part of the Hoffmann Family of Companies, is bringing a first-of-its-kind dining experience to downtown Naperville. Through a collaboration, Oberweis will launch a scoop shop inside Giordano’s, allowing guests to pair deep-dish pizza with ice cream under one roof.

This marks a significant milestone for both Oberweis and Giordano’s. For Giordano’s, it is the first time the deep-dish pizza maker has hosted another restaurant brand inside one of its locations, and for Oberweis, it is their first-ever scoop shop. The scoop shop will feature a full menu of their ice cream, designed for an easy grab-and-go dessert experience.

“There is nothing quite as deeply ingrained in the American family experience as pizza and ice cream,” said Oberweis CEO Renato DePaolis. “Whether you are celebrating a Little League victory, a family milestone, or just a classic Friday night tradition, these two foods have always gone hand-in-hand. By bringing Oberweis into Giordano’s, we aren't just pairing two legacy Chicago brands; we’re honoring a timeless, nostalgic tradition and giving families the quintessential American night out, all under one roof.”

At the heart of this partnership is a shared commitment to high-quality ingredients, particularly in the dairy sector. Both Oberweis and Giordano’s support local agriculture and infrastructure. Giordano’s mozzarella is a proprietary blend crafted from the milk of local cows that all graze within 50 miles of each other on their Wisconsin farms, mirroring Oberweis’s century-long commitment to family-farmed milk and cream.

"Welcoming Oberweis into our restaurant is a natural fit. We both share an uncompromised belief in premium, high-quality ingredients,” said Giordano’s CEO Nick Scarpino. “After enjoying their favorite Giordano’s deep-dish pizza, our guests can now experience the absolute best ice cream Chicago has to offer without ever leaving the building."

The new Naperville Scoop Shop will feature two exclusive treats available only at this location. Created by Oberweis scoop shop team members and inspired by Naperville Central and Naperville North high schools, these limited-time items reflect the spirit of the local community. The Top Flyin’ Frostbite, inspired by Naperville Central, blends strawberry sweetness with rich peanut butter cup ice cream, finished with whipped cream and a touch of sprinkles. The Huskie Dream, inspired by Naperville North, pairs bright orange sherbet with classic vanilla, served in a blue and orange sprinkle-coated bowl and topped with marshmallow and whipped cream.

For Oberweis and Giordano’s, neighborhood relationships and local community impact will be a major cornerstone for their partnership. Oberweis and Giordano’s will be donating a portion of grand opening day sales to The DuPage Children's Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Naperville, dedicated to fostering curiosity, creativity, and STEM skills in children through play-based exhibits.

The first-ever Scoop Shop from Oberweis is set to open within Giordano’s in Naperville on April 28th. The first 99 customers to the new Naperville Scoop Shop on April 28 can get a single scoop of ice cream for only $0.99.
