From his spice brand La Boîte in New York City, Chef Lior Lev Sercarz will be joining a team of One Off Hospitality chefs including Dylan Patel of avec, Greg Wade of Publican Quality Bread, and Chef & Partner Paul Kahan on Sunday, September 10th to host a spice-centric, live-fire dinner under the stars on the Bar avec rooftop.

Celebrating his newly launched cookbook, “A Middle Eastern Pantry”, Chef Lior Lev Sercarz, has been making his spice blends at La Boîte since 2006.

Lior will be putting his talents to use as he and the chefs fire up the grill and prepare an exclusive three-course Mediterranean-inspired feast for guests against Chicago skyline views, eight stories up. Together with Kahan, Patel and Wade, Lior will present dishes including a tender hamachi crudo with tahini and pasha pine nuts, tangy chicken Fesenjan stew with pomegranate & walnuts, shrimp with spicy shatta and rose, and for dessert, mini Knafeh served with ice cream and grilled hawayej spiced pineapple. Through the dinner, guests will also get an exclusive first taste of Spice Brothers, Lior’s fast-casual shawarma restaurant, set to open in Fall 2023 on St. Marks Place in Manhattan’s East Village.

“Spices are the unsung hero in your pantry. Incorporating them in your recipes can transform the flavor profile of a dish entirely,” says Lior. Born in Israel and trained in France at the Paul Bocuse Institute, Lior’s passion lies in spreading his knowledge of spices to as many people as possible, whether it’s through his writing, chef demos, or in-person at his spice shop. “A Middle Eastern Pantry'' launched in June 2023.

Tickets to this event are available on Tock. The price includes a personally signed copy of “A Middle Eastern Pantry”. Wine pairings are available for an additional charge per person. Seatings begin at 4 pm, with the last seating happening at 10 pm.

“Lior is truly a master of his craft,” says Chef Paul Kahan. “No one knows the spice world like this guy does, and chefs in the industry and the culinary world at large are incredibly lucky to have him. We’re thrilled to welcome him to Chicago with a delicious feast overlooking the city, you won’t want to miss it!”
