aliveOne will open at 9 p.m. on New Year's Day. Celebrate the New Year and enjoy $5 Absolut bloody marys, $6 Jameson shots, $3 PBR bottles, $4 Temperance brews as well as FREE pool all night.

Belly Up Smokehouse and Saloon (1132 S Wabash St)

Belly Up will open at 10 a.m. on New Year's Day and serve brunch until 3 p.m. featuring a special "Toast to 2017" drink menu which is as follows:

  • $7 Toast Vodka drinks
  • $5 Bulleit shots
  • $5 Jameson shots with a pickleback
  • Half-off all draft beers
  • $20.17 bottomless mimosas
  • $20.17 bottomless bloody marys (featuring a build-your-own bloody mary bar with wings, hot links, celery, onion rings, cheddar cubes, shrimp cocktail, mini grilled cheese, pickles (raw & fried), candies bacon, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, olives, bleu cheese stuffed olives and beef sliders)

Brunch menu highlights include Smoked Brisket Hash (12-hour smoked brisket, potatoes, peppers, crispy onion, fried egg, red-eye barbecue sauce; $13), Pork and Grits (smoked pork belly, cheddar grits, red-eye barbecue sauce, scallions; $12) and more.

Commonwealth Tavern (2000 W Roscoe St)

Commonwealth Tavern will open on New Year's Day at 10 a.m for a special "First Brunch of 2017", available until 3 p.m. As a Dallas Cowboys bar, Commonwealth will broadcast the game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles at 12 p.m. Specials will include $4 Tecate cans, $5 Miller Lite stadium cups and $4 Fireball shots. Commonwealth will also serve brunch on Monday, January 2 beginning at 10 a.m. and broadcast all college bowl games.

On both January 1 and 2, enjoy a $3 Build-Your-Own Mimosa Bar with various fruits and juices and a $6 Build-Your-Own Bloody Mary Bar stacked with hot sauces, veggies, meats and more. Menu highlights include Brunch Schnitzel (herb aioli, smoked potatoes, pickled red onion, fried egg; $14), Pig Muffin (maple pig head, farm egg, American cheese, English muffin; $12), and Kentucky Hot Brown (smoked turkey, bacon, tomato, beer cheese, sourdough, $14).

Easy Bar (1944 W Division St)

Easy Bar will be open from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. on New Year's Day. Celebrate the new year at Easy Bar and enjoy $6 Jameson shots as well as 19 beers on tap and a seasonal cocktail menu. DJ Sir Isaac will also spin a set from 10 p.m. to midnight.

Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya (1482 N Milwaukee Ave)

Kizuki will be open for lunch at 11 a.m. on New Year's Day offering a choice over 10 bowls of ramen. Highlights include Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen (rich pork broth flavored with Yamaguchi soy sauce, topped with black garlic oil), perfect for ramen lovers looking for something that's hearty, rich and full of flavor, and Yuzu Shio Ramen (French sea salt, kelp and Japanese citrus based), a ramen unlike the traditional ramen stereotype of meaty and creamy.

La Sirena Clandestina (953 W Fulton Market)

Keep the party going at Latin-local restaurant La Sirena Clandestina as it hosts a New Year's Day Bossa Nova Brunch on Sunday, January 1 from 10 am to 2:30 pm, with live bossa nova music throughout the afternoon.

Escape the cold winter weather and transport yourself to the beaches of Brazil with brunch cocktails including Pomegranate Caipirinhas and brunch dishes including Lobster Benedict with dende-poached lobster, avocado mash, malagueta hollandaise, and poached eggs.

MAK: Modern Asian Kitchen (1924 W. Division St)

MAK will be open for regular hours on Sunday, January 1 and Monday, January 2. For those hosting watch parties for the Cotton Bowl, Outback Bowl, Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl on January 2, MAK will offer a Bowl Game Special featuring 20 chicken wangs for only $20. The special will be available on both Sunday, January 1 and Monday, January 2 for dine-in or delivery.

For a little hair of the dog, The Owl will open from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. on New Year's Day with some late-night specials like the following:

Tavern on Little Fort (4128 North Lincoln Ave)

Tavern on Little Fort will open at 10 a.m. on New Year's Day so you can refuel with brunch until 3 p.m. while watching the Oakland Raiders vs. Denver Broncos game at 3:25 p.m. Raiders game day specials include $3 Miller Lite bottles, $5 Tito's & Lemonade, $4 Fireball shots and $5 Pulled Pork Sliders.

On Monday, January 2, Tavern on Little Fort will open for brunch at 10 a.m. and feature all the college bowl games including Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Florida Gators in the Outback Bowl at 12 p.m. Hawkeyes game day specials include $8 Miller Lite pitchers, $5 Miller Lite stadium cups, $5 Jack Daniels and Coke, $5 Vodka Lemonades and $5 Hawkeye bombs.

Brunch highlights on January 1 and 2 include the Breakfast Burger (70-percent brisket and 30-percent bacon patty, tavern sauce, bread and butter pickles, fried egg, New England bun; $15), Breakfast Bagel (ham, scrambled egg, beer cheese; $12), and Vegetable Frittata (asparagus, tomato chile relish, aioli, parmesan; $12).
