Greg Mohr and Scott Weiner will open their fourth location of Roots Handmade Pizza to the public at 4pm on Friday, July 10 at 744 S Dearborn St in the Printer’s Row neighborhood of Chicago.
 
The fourth location of Roots will be the 21st restaurant and cocktail bar opened by Mohr – a Quad Cities native from Rock Island, Illinois – and Weiner who are co-founders of The Fifty/50 Restaurant Group.
 
Roots features in Quad Cities style malt crust pizza, housemade mozzarella sticks, handmade pastas, signature salads, build-your-own salads, sausages, an all-Midwestern craft beer list, and craft cocktails from Christian Hetter who was previously the bar manager at The Fifty/50 Group’s cocktail bar The Berkshire Room.
 
This new Printer’s Row location spans two floors and 10,000 square feet with two outdoor ground level patios on Dearborn and Polk streets. Chicago graffiti artists Amuse and Stuk One collaborated on most of the artwork inside the new Roots. There’s also are 23 large HDTVs spread across both floors.
 
The second floor – dubbed “The Canopy” – features a $600,000 state-of-the-art glass retractable roof that can open (and close) in less than 30 seconds.
 
“The Canopy”  features five specialty cocktails (including one with Vodka, Green Chartreuse, Strawberry, Aloe, Cucumber, Poblano, Lemoncurated by Hetter – highlighting greatest-hits style cocktails form Fifty/50 Group menus from The Berkshire Room, The Sixth, and Utopian Tailgate.

“The Canopy” sports lush greenery, plants, and flowers around the bottom of the retractable roof; two disco balls; LED and programmable laser light shows; table games; a DJ booth; a high-end sound system; and a full bar.
 
The new Printer’s Row Roots will open at 4pm daily for the first 10 days. Starting on Monday, July 20 will extend its operating hours – opening for lunch at 11am on weekdays and opening at 10am on Saturdays and Sundays for weekend brunch.
