Craft Beer Open Late Lunch Craft Cocktails Tasty Value Cuban Fusion / Eclectic Global, International International Latin American Mexican River North The Loop

Beginning this month, River North's sole authentic Northern Mexican restaurant will be expanding their already extensive repertoire of traditional Hispanic cuisine and serving up several new dishes, including: Tacos al Carbon de Sirloin, El Cubano, Ropa Vieja en Tostones, Empanadas, and a Short Rib that is so unbelievably mouth-watering, you may need to BYOB (bring your own bib).

Start your meal off with their Empanadas; AKA the epitome of crispy, doughy, fried-food perfection! Made with imported Masa (a Latin American dough made from corn flour) and stuffed with your choice of ground beef or veggies, these irresistible Spanish delights are an addicting appetizer for both meat-lovers and vegetarians alike; good luck limiting yourself to just one.

After you've had your empanada fill, treat your tastebuds to one of Northern Mexico's most traditional staples: Tacos al Carbon de Sirloin. This ethnic entree is a mesquite-grilled masterpiece you'll regret you haven't tried sooner! Smoky in taste and juicy in texture, this delectable dish is simple in appearance, but complex in flavor. Served on their exclusively imported artisan tortillas, each order includes sides of freshly chopped onions, cilantro, and salsa tostada.

The perfect selection for anybody who must have both salty and saccharine, the Ropa Vieja en Tostones is undoubtedly a house-favorite. Made with shredded, stewed beef, crisp iceberg lettuce, queso fresco, and sour cream, served on-top of a crunchy bed of fried plantains, this dish is sure to satisfy all sides of your taste buds.

Prized for both it's succulence and it's presentation, the showstopper of them all is The Short Rib. This massive 7lb. entree is marinated in olive oil and basil and then slow-cooked for 45 minutes over authentic mesquite chips (hauled all the way from Texas) before it reaches your table! The perfect choice for a family-style sharing, the Short Rib is truly a dish fit for a king.
