Chicago's new-found fascination with mezcal rages-on this summer, particularly at Rojo Gusano, where mezcal seems to be having its moment. Inside, and out -- on Rojo's new sidewalk patio, a line-up of mezcal-based cocktails, and over a dozen brands of mezcal, lead the parade at chef Dudley Nieto's casual beach-themed hipster taco hangout. While mezcal options remain top of the list, Rojo Gusano's drink menu also includes a selection of tequilas, sotols, bourbons, wines and imported beers.
The libations offer the pairing to Chef Dudley's globally-inspired taco mash-ups like Green Curry Shrimp Tacos with Asian cabbage, Charred Butternut Squash tacos with farmers cheese, kale, tomatillo salsa, and Korean Beef BBQ Tacos with kimchi, cilantro and sesame seeds.
Rojo Gusano now boasts two locations, the original location at 3830 West Lawrence Avenue, Chicago, and a second location, opened July 1, at 3131 North Central, Chicago. NOTE: 3131 North Central currently BYOB.
