Mercadito, in River North, is having a Fall Menu Preview Don Julio Tequila Dinner on September 19 featuring five courses paired with Don Julio cocktails and hosted by Mercadito Chicago’s Executive Chef Patricio Sandoval and Don Julio specialist Paul Sauter.
First, a Guacamole Trio including Chef Patricio’s recipes: Granada made with avocado, tomatillo pico de gallo, roasted habanero, pomegranate, mint, queso fresco and crispy shallots; Calabaza made with avocado, red onion, grilled butternut squash, creamed onions, roasted jalapeño, bay leaf and sage; and Piña made with avocado, tomatillo pico de gallo, caramelized pineapple, Serrano chiles, cilantro, epazote and mint.
Next, sample Mercadito’s various Ceviche options including: Langosta, lemon poached lobster, pineapple, chipotle, red onion, tomatillo and key lime mint broth; Mixto, lime cured shrimp, white fish, squid, pico de gallo, cumin, shaved carrots, hearts of palm, lime-black pepper broth, epazote, cilantro crispy avocado.
The next two courses feature a variety of Tacos including: Pollo, adobo marinated chicken, hickory smoked sweet potato, cured onions, shaved and crispy Brussels sprouts, piloncillo vinaigrette, crispy skin; Carne, herb marinated skirt steak, roasted jalapeño-butternut squash fundido, cured onions and cilantro, crispy shallots, herbs.The Don Julio Tequila Dinner is $65 per guest.
