Beginning Monday, July 19, Chicago local, female-owned hard kombucha company, Luna Bay Booch, is bringing a seasonal pop-up to 160 N Morgan in Fulton Market. The 2,600-square-foot pop-up, which will retrofit a former bank into a coworking and event space, with colorful fruit illustrations on the exterior of the building. Boochquarters, as Luna Bay as coined it, will offer users access to first come, first served collaboration spaces, a coffee bar, a quiet place to work during the day and a curated calendar of events for nights and weekends throughout the remainder of 2021.
Co-founded in 2019 by two native Chicagoans, entrepreneur Bridget Connelly and kombucha brewer Claire Ridge, Luna Bay Booch, is made with Yerba Mate tea and fresh fruits and herbs. The company is donating 1% of total sales to environmental nonprofits.
“As a company born-and-raised right here in Chicago, Sterling Bay is excited to partner with a local brand like Luna Bay that’s shaking up its respective industry,” said Jessica Brown, Director of Leasing at Sterling Bay. “Our team takes a lot of pride in curating retail tenants that thoughtfully deliver unique experiences to our properties, and we’re confident Luna Bay’s wellness-focused approach to community engagement is a natural fit for the Fulton Market neighborhood.”
Over the course of last year’s COVID-19 lockdowns, alcohol sales, particularly in the probiotic beverage space, saw a significant increase across the United States. According to Luna Bay’s leadership team, this rise in consumer interest was due to a growing trend of “mindful sipping” and holistic health, which Luna Bay’s non-GMO, high-quality ingredients speak to intrinsically. Luna Bay is expanding its reach across the country, with a network of distributors that shelve product in restaurants, bars and retail locations from coast-to-coast.
Luna Bay Booch CEO Bridget Connelly has always envisioned a physical space to call home for Luna Bay. Bringing Boochquarters to life is a dream come true. She shares, “At Luna Bay, we’re changing the way people celebrate with our boozy booch, and through Boochquarters, we want to change the way people work, gather, learn and play. Boochquarters is our new work & play space for our Chicago community. Partnering with Sterling Bay to find a perfect space for us to takeover in our Chicago backyard has gone so smoothly, and we are ready to introduce our Luna Bay family to likeminded friends and brands.”
