Wine Italian River North

Nonnina, in River North, is hosting a wine dinner on Tuesday, September 13 featuring varietals of Italy’s  Luce della Vita vineyard.  Home to  Luce, Luce Brunello, Lucen­te, and Grappa varieties, the estate of Montalcino, Italy brings Commercial Director Peter Ferguson to Nonnina.  Introducing guests to the flavors of Luce’s wine cellar, the evening is accompanied by a tasting menu designed by Executive Chef Chris Macchia.

Beginning at 6:00 p.m., for $90 per person, attendees will be presented with a four-course Italian experience curated by Chef Macchia complementing white and red varietals hand-selected by the host and Luce wine ambassador, Ferguson.  Whisking guests to Montalcino through paired cuisine and wine, the evening’s menu features:

Grilled Calamari with 2014 Attems Sauvignon Venezia Giulia IGT

(Grilled calamari stuffed with lobster, scallops, shrimp, crab, and spinach)

Maccheroni with 2013 Lucente Toscana IGT

(Hollow ribbed pasta, braised duck sauce)

Beef Tenderloin Rossini with 2009 Luce Brunello di Montalcino

(Wood roasted beef tenderloin, foie gras, crouton, black truffle sauce)

Assorted Italian Cheeses with 2012 Luce Toscana

(Robiola Mia Nonnina, Pecorino Toscano Bertagni, Taleggio Arrigoni)
