LondonHouse Chicago is introducing a slate of seasonal programming this fall, including football viewing at LH Rooftop, a September rooftop event, a Día de los Muertos-inspired afternoon tea, Oktoberfest menu additions and a Halloween party. The hotel will transition into its winter programming later in the season with the return of its heated rooftop igloos.
LH Rooftop will show college football games on Saturdays, Chicago Bears games on Sundays and select weeknights, with additional games available upon request. The rooftop offers a large-format screen, lounge seating and a full bar. Groups can reserve the VIP sofa area for game-day gatherings.
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, LondonHouse will mark the end of summer with its Forever Summer rooftop event from 11 a.m. until close. The day includes 25% off lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., live DJs, giveaways and a complimentary Veuve Clicquot toast at 5 p.m. Walk-ins will be accepted, with reservations recommended for guests seeking a guaranteed table.
From Sept. 28 through Nov. 1, the hotel’s Bridges River Vista Afternoon Tea will feature a Día de los Muertos-inspired menu at Bridges Lobby Bar. The $100-per-person experience combines traditional afternoon tea service with Mexican-inspired savory dishes and desserts.
Savory selections include Barbacoa en Platano with braised short rib, fried plantain, cotija and pickled red onion; Pollo con Mole Negro Sope; and Salpicón de Res Tostada. Pastry Chef Thomas Gorczyca’s desserts include conchas, pumpkin empanadas, Mexican wedding cookies, La Catrina dark chocolate cake with ancho chile ganache, a mangonada bar and cinnamon churros.
A $50 children’s tea will also be available, with selections including Mummy’s Pigs in a Blanket, a bean-and-cheese empanada and a Sugar Skull Popsicle. Reservations are recommended for both afternoon tea experiences.
Oktoberfest will also be represented on the LH Rooftop menu from Sept. 16 through Oct. 4. The limited-time Oktoberfest Burger ($24) features a Slagel Family Farm beef patty topped with Emmentaler cheese, Black Forest ham, housemade honey-beer mustard, caramelized onions and bread-and-butter pickles on a pretzel bun.
On Saturday, Oct. 31, LondonHouse will host Nightmare on Wacker Drive: Día de los Muertos from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The 21-and-over Halloween party will take place across LH Rooftop and the indoor LH on 21 lounge, with themed décor, live DJs and a hosted bar.
A costume contest will take place at midnight. The first-place winner will receive an overnight stay at LondonHouse and two tickets to the hotel’s New Year’s Eve party, while the runner-up will receive two New Year’s Eve party tickets.
Later in the season, LH Rooftop will transition to Rudolph’s Rooftop and bring back its private heated igloos. The fully enclosed structures accommodate groups of up to six and will feature a seasonal menu of cocktails and food.
A new addition this year is a $32 Pretzel Board featuring a housemade pretzel, two charcuterie meats, cheese, Bavarian butter-cheese spread, fruit preserves, mustard, pickled vegetables and fresh fruit. Beer-cheese dipping sauce can be added for $5. The board will be available throughout the winter igloo season.
