Start your "tour de sandwich" in Roscoe Village where Commonwealth Tavern will offer $7 lunch sandwich specials all month long. The celebratory sandwich lineup includes the following savory offerings.
- The Abe (half-pound chopped burger, smoked bacon, sauteed onions, melted American cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, French roll)
- The Chief (chopped chicken breast, smoked bacon, melted provolone, sauteed onions, green peppers, lettuce, tomato, mayo, cayenne, French roll)
- Mary Lou (ham or smoked bacon, melted provolone, onion, tomato, green peppers, mayo, house seasoning, French roll)

Not a meat eater? No problem. In Wicker Park, you'll find that three of Estelle's grilled cheese sandwiches are meat-free. Plus, they are only $6 on Wednesdays in August during National Sandwich Month. Come after work from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to indulge in half-price everything happy hour, and end your night with half-off signature cocktails till close. Featured sandwiches include the following:

Nothing screams a national food holiday more than free food. Head to Hakka Bakka in Lincoln Park for a side of FREE Masala Fries accompanied by a generous helping of cilantro aioli. You can score this deal with the purchase of a Lamb Shammi Burger, Chicken Tikka Sandwich, or Veggie Masala Tikka Burger.
Chef/Owner Jeff Wang will recognize National Sandwich Month with the debut of "Baowiches" from his popular Yum Dum Food Truck at MAK in Wicker Park during August. These mouth watering signature sandwiches will be available for dine-in and delivery and include Pork Belly, Korean Chili Chicken, Crispy Shrimp and Crispy Fish at $8 for two.
If you aren't thinking about lunch yet, these paninis at Tuscany on Taylor Street in Little Italy are sure to do the trick. The Phil Stefani staple will offer buy-one-get-one free paninis every Monday during lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. during National Sandwich Month. Executive Chef Victorio Padilla will offer a panini menu including Meatball with provolone, parmigiano and tomato sauce, Italian sausage with peppers and onions, and more. Guests can sink their teeth into a panini while cloud gazing on Tuscany Taylor's patio.
