New Menu French Roscoe Village

Le Sud Mediterranean Kitchen, located in Roscoe Village, will launch a new dinner menu starting on Wednesday, August 12. Executive Chef Michael Woodhall (Perennial; Gilt Bar; Bavette's) takes dining guests on a culinary tour beyond the South of France, exploring more of the Mediterranean. The new dishes are influenced by the ingredients, flavors and cooking styles of the Basque region of Spain.

The menu offerings are divided into two sections, small plates ($6-$12) and large plates ($15-$24). Small plate selections incorporate baby kale and manchego salad, grilled shrimp and piparra pepper, braised Spanish octopus, smoked ham and cheese croquette, fried polenta cake, steamed Maine mussels and more. Large plates include grilled Bavette steak "Txuleton," roasted Basque half chicken, Mediterranean braised veal cheese, grilled Sakura pork chop, salmon a la Riberena, wood grilled tri-blend burger, chitarra pasta, and Atlantic cod in green sauce.

Savory side dishes ($4-$6) consist of Tolosa beans with guindilla, matchstick frites, white quinoa with red pepper and herbs, and mixed vegetables with breadcrumbs. A sweet end to the meal may be found with a special, order-ahead baked gala apple, peaches and sabayon, creme brulee or chocolate torte ($5-$13).

Le Sud's summer cocktail collection features peach sangria, basil-cucumber martini, Jungle Bird (dark rum, Campari, demerara simple syrup, lime juice, pineapple), Jack Rose (calvados, grenadine, lime juice), Black Wave (Rough Rider bourbon, Lucien Jacob cassis, amaro sibilla, lemon) and Sidecar ($10-12). Beer offerings include Three Floyds' Alpha King Ale, Two Brothers' Domaine DuPage French Country Ale, Lagunitas IPA, Left Hand Milk Stout by Left Hand Brewing, CO and Le Merle Saison by North Coast Brewing, CA ($7-$8).

The wine program's 13 glass pours highlight blanc, rose, rouge and sparkling selections from France, Italy and Spain ($9-$13). Thirty wines by the bottle are also sourced from Mediterranean region and range in price from $36 to $60, along with a reserve wine list featuring 18 selections.

Le Sud is open Wednesday-Saturday from 5-10 p.m., and Sunday 4-9 p.m. Alfresco dining is offered on the sidewalk cafe, along with open-air indoor seating in the main dining room. Le Sud's happy hour menu is available Wednesday through Saturday from 5-6 p.m., featuring $3 craft brews, $6 glasses of wine and cocktails, and select small plates ($5-$6).
