The Smith

Just in time for the holiday weekend and last moments of summer, Chicago residents can now order The Smith’s Picnic Totes. The $48 tote serves two guests and includes Toasted Sesame Hummus & Vegetables, a Caesar Salad, potato chips, chocolate chip cookies, and choice of two sandwiches, either the Grilled Chicken, BLT+E, The Smith Burger or the Veggie Burger Royale. Looking to upgrade? Diners can also add the Lobster Roll for an additional +$15 per person.

Lardon

Logan Square’s new Midwestern salumeria just launched dinner service every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Available weekends from 5:30 to 10 p.m, the dinner menu features dishes like their signature Lardon Salad, decadent Crispy Duck Leg Confit and Steak Frites. Reservations are available on Resy. This new dinner service adds onto Lardon’s daily offerings, including coffee and pastries starting at 7 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and house-cured meat and artisanal cheeses until close.

Nonnina

Looking to plan a picnic with your friends or family this Labor Day Weekend? Nonnina is offering the  “RiverWalk Package” which features a large salad, 12-inch sub, and a bottle of wine for $35. 

Farm Bar

Lakeview’s neighborhood spot is opening early on Labor Day itself, giving you a chance to ward off the Monday scaries before heading back to work on Tuesday. Monday Brunch specials include: Midwestern farm-to-table favorites like monkey bread and buttermilk pancakes with Wisconsin-made apple brandy maple syrup, plus the Farm Bar-favorite breakfast sandwich—which features slow-roasted pork belly on French toast with a sunnyside farm egg, strawberry jam, melted Monterey Jack cheese and spicy potatoes. Any meal is paired with an espresso martini, seasonal watermelon mimosa or cider sangria. 

PB&J

This Labor Day weekend, kick off the festivities at PB&J, with a variety of special frozen drinks. Sip on a frozen “Sour Watermelon” featuring Pink Lemonade Smirnoff, Lemon and Red Bull Watermelon Edition, or the Chi Colada, a mix of Captain Morgan, Pineapple and Coconut.  Also available is the new “West Loop Vice”, a mixture of both the Sour Watermelon and Chi Colada. 

El Che Meat & Provisions

As your family plans to gather for your Labor Day cookout, El Che Steakhouse & Bar’s retail marketplace is offering take-home grilling kits. The Weekender Kit ($57) includes a 4 pack short ribs, 2 morcilla links, 2 chorizo links, 4-pack BabyGold Beer—part of his partnership at iconic Berwyn establishment Fitzgeralds—plus 4 oz each of housemade Chimichurri, Chimichurri Rojo, Salsa Criolla. Steak lovers can take home the Ultimate Steak Box ($220) which includes 8oz Filet, 14oz Ribeye 16oz Tira de Asado, 16oz New York Strip, 32oz Bone-In Ribeye and 1/2 Pint Chimichurri. The Rambler Kitchen and Tap

The Rambler Kitchen and Tap in North Center plans to keep the summer going with their “Beach Staycation Happy Hour” on Labor Day. From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., The Rambler will serve up $4 margaritas with flavors like lime, mango, strawberry and spicy as well as $5.50 frozen drinks like a Strawberry Daiquiri, Pina Colada, Bushwacker and Lincoln Avenue Lemonade.

Guests can soak up the last days of summer on The Rambler’s flower-lined, dog-friendly sidewalk patio for 48. The Cubs vs. Reds game at 1:20 p.m. will also be broadcast in their weatherproofed outdoor beer garden that accommodates up to 68 guests and is outfitted with a full bar, six TVs and a sound system. Ina Mae Tavern & Packaged Goods

This Labor Day, Ina Mae Tavern & Packaged Goods (1415 N. Wood St) will be celebrating with a Shrimp Boil. The event will take place on Monday, September 6th from 11 AM to 6 PM.

Guests can order a feast of Boiled Shrimp, Corn, & Potatoes for $35 a plate, along with $11 drink specials, including Hurricanes and Old Fashions. Live music can be enjoyed from 1 to 4 PM. Reservations can be made at www.inamaetavern.com, or by calling 773-360-8320.

City Works Eatery and Pour House & Old Town Pour House

On Monday, September 6, the Bottleneck Management-owned restaurants extend its weekend brunch for a “Monday Funday”, featuring Rock n’ Roll themed brunch offerings such as:

- Jon Bun Jovi: warm jumbo cinnamon roll

- Johnny Hash: hardwood-smoked pulled pork shoulder, red and green bell peppers, onions, butternut squash, potatoes, jalapeno salsa verde, and sunnyside up eggs

- The Clash Smash: smashed avocado on toasted challah, roasted corn, pickled red onion, shaved radish, and sliced hardboiled egg

- Chimi Hendrix: breakfast chimichanga in a fried flour tortilla with scrambled egg, bacon, sausage, green onion, pico de gallo, smoked cheddar, chipotle salsa roja, and cheesy potato casserole

Brunch is offered from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; reservations are recommended and can be made online or by calling the restaurant.

Soul & Smoke 

This barbecue and soul food restaurant concept is offering catering trays (half + full pans) of smoked beef & pork, salmon, and comfort food side dishes like cornbread and mac ‘n cheese, plus large format cocktail options. Classic BBQ favorites are served hot and ready to eat!

This holiday weekend they are offering a free extra cocktail for every quart purchased, along with a shaker, cups, ice, and garnish. Gallon-sized to-go cocktails are available as well. Choose from flavors like Once Upon a Time in Venezuela (diplomatico planas and mantuano rum, coconut, fresh lime, bitters) or We Got the Beet (beet-infused cincoro blanco tequila, lime juice, agave nectar, black lime rim).

Cafe Robey 

Nestled in the heart of Wicker Park at the foot of art-deco masterpiece The Robey hotel, Cafe Robey is a corner cafe serving breakfast and lunch 7 days a week. This holiday weekend, stop by to try their special Labor Day menu offering - Pulled pork sandwich, apple cabbage slaw and crispy onions. Served with roasted corn salad and pickle spears for $15.

Verve Wine + Provisions 

  • Offering 1: 5-course Provençal Dinner with wine pairings: Chef Ryan Epp has curated a 5-course Provençal tasting menu ($60) that will be offered on Sunday, September 5. Guests will escape to the south of France as they taste their way through Provence-inspired plates, including 1) crostini with cod brandade and tapenade, 2) roasted peppers, ricotta, sun-dried tomato "pepperoni", 3) soup de poisson, 4) lamb with caponata, and 5) red wine poached pear with whipped cream. Guests have the option to enhance their experience with a curated wine pairing (+$55).

  • Offering 2: Off-The-Menu Burger and Playful Wine Pairings: Verve offers some fun, quality wines at a great price point. Ex: canned wine ($12) from Las Jaras of Eric Wareheim of Master of None on Netflix. The Gruner Leader ($20) is a great, easy-drinking bottle of Gruner Veltliner at a great price. The burger is a loose riff on an In & Out burger with X2 smashed Slagel Farm patties, market lettuce, tomato, caramelized onion, house pickle sauce, and home made “American,” cheese. Feeling fancy - for those feeling adventurous there is a foie burger as well, served with sear Hudson Valley foie gras, caramelized onion, and sherry aioli - pairs nicely with a Northern Rhone Syrah.
  • Hours: Verve’s wine shop is open from 11- 9 p.m. Mon-Sat and 12- 7 p.m. Sundays. The restaurant is open Wed-Sun from 5-10 p.m (reservations required for patio, walk-in seating at the bar available first come, first serve).

Milk Money Brewing 

Enjoy classic Labor Day fare with a summer grilling package from La Grange’s inaugural brewery, Milk Money Brewing.
