Haymarket Beer Company was named beer champion of the 22nd Annual Chicagoland Brewpub and Microbrewery Shootout. The January 18th event was hosted by The Chicago Beer Society at Metropolitan Brewing. Out of a dozen Chicagoland brewers, Haymarket’s My First Rodeo Belgian-Style Quad took first place as the Champion Beer. Haymarket was further awarded second place in the food pairing category for their house-made bratwurst.

The awards were judged by the event attendees for the categories of best beer, best food, and best beer / food pairing. Haymarket placed in two out of the three categories.

“I’m proud to have been a part of the Chicago Beer Society’s events for over 20 years and being recognized by the attendees as a champion beer yet again never gets old. I am truly honored,” said Pete Crowley, Master Brewer and Co-Founder, Haymarket Beer Company.

My First Rodeo Belgian-Style Quad is a Belgian-style quadrupel. It has flavors of raisin, bittersweet chocolate, and toasted nuts.

Haymarket Bratwurst is a house-made, 100% pork butt in all-natural casing sausage. It’s naturally sweet, spiced with sage and mustard seeds. The Haymarket Bratwurst is served with onions glazed in My First Rodeo and honey mustard, house-fermented Blau Kraut, on a pretzel roll.

For those who missed the event, the My First Rodeo Belgian-Style Quad and Haymarket Bratwurst pairing can be tasted every day at Haymarket Pub & Brewery in Chicago’s West Loop.
