Hannah’s Bretzel has partnered with Chef David Posey and the team at West Loop’s Danish fine-dining concept, Elske, to craft the latest addition to Hannah’s “Chef Series” sandwiches: Pølser. Pølserwill be available as a “secret menu” item, available only for in-person orders at Hannah’s Bretzel locations from May 18 to May 26, and will officially launch in-person and for online ordering on Tuesday, May 26.
Named after the Danish word for “Hot Dog”, Posey’s Pølser plays on the classic American staple, offering an elevated, European-inspired twist to the dish. Made with shaved rosemary ham and roast beef, sourced from Illinois’ very own Slagel Farms in partnership with Publican Quality Meats, this handheld goes beyond the Chicago dog. The all-natural hormone-free meats are complemented by Elske’s fennel slaw and curried remoulade, topped with fried onions and sandwiched between Hannah’s house-made organic bretzel bread.
“We are so thrilled to partner with Chef Posey to craft Pølser for the next iteration of this series,” says Florian Pfahler, Founder and CEO of Hannah’s Bretzel, “Both of our concepts draw on European flavors and local Midwest ingredients and Pølser is exactly the kind of sandwich we want to bring to Chicago.”
As part of the Chef Series, Hannah’s Bretzel donates a portion of proceeds from the limited-time sandwich to a charitable partner. The duo landed on First Tee, an organization which seeks to empower Chicago children through golf, building their self-confidence and instilling life skills through the low-impact, high-reward game. 10% of the Pølser’s proceeds will go towards ensuring no child is turned away due to financial barriers, so all kids have the chance to learn, grow, and thrive through First Tee’s curriculum.
The Chef Series at Hannah’s has previously highlighted Chicago chefs, including Paul Kahan, Rodolfo Cuadros, Jason Hammel, Thai Dang, and John Manion. This collaboration offers chefs the opportunity to embrace their creativity between the bretzel slice.
The sandwich will be available for a limited time at all three Hannah’s Bretzel locations throughout the downtown Chicago neighborhoods, including River North and the Loop, as well as for delivery and catering.
