The Green Tie Ball, returns on Friday, September 13, 2019, from 6:30pm-Midnight at Alhambra Palace (1240 W. Randolph Street). Co-Chairs Grant DePorter and Lee Golub are teaming up with an all-star event committee and special guest Pete Wentz to make this year’s Green Tie Ball happen.

This year’s theme, I Dream of Greenie, draws upon the classic American fantasy sitcom starring Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman as inspiration for the event. Alhambra Palace will transport guests to Jeannie’s bottle with its Moorish art, intricate gilded doorways, hand-painted tiles, stone mosaics, and crystal chandeliers.

Special guest this year is Chicago’s own Pete Wentz who will DJ the event and is known as the bassist and lyricist of the band Fall Out Boy.

“Now, in our 28th year, attendees have come to expect a night to remember when they attend the Green Tie Ball. As one of Chicago’s longest-running and most anticipated gala events, we continually deliver the best in venues, decor, live entertainment, and an epic guest list with Chicago’s top VIP’s and notables in attendance. We’re excited to have Illinois native, Pete Wentz, join us in 2019 as our guest DJ. He’s sure to bring his signature high energy and musical talent to this year’s stage,” said Grant DePorter, Chairman of Chicago Gateway Green.

Green Tie Ball is hosted by the nonprofit organization Chicago Gateway Green, which is dedicated to greening and beautifying Chicago’s expressways, gateways, and communities. Founded in 1986 by Donald J. DePorter, Gateway Green has planted more than 4,000 trees, 80,000 shrubs, and 130,000 perennials along with the removal of over 1.3 million pounds of litter.

Each year, the event is marked by Chicago’s top restaurants, eclectic entertainment, and a unique venue that celebrates the city’s diverse neighborhoods. This year is no different, with guests enjoying cocktails from premium open bars and sampling gourmet bites from 30 of Chicago’s most celebrated restaurants including, Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse, and more. Entertainment includes sets by top Chicago DJs, charitable gaming from Rivers Casino, and a set from the cover band, Dr. Bombay, which features Chicago Gateway Green Vice Chairman and Co-Chair, Lee Golub as the drummer.
