Chicagoans can treat their sweetie to Caffé Umbria's special Cardamom Rose Mocha available throughout February at Caffè Umbria in Logan Square and River North. Inspired by the Persian Love Cake which features cardamom and rose in a delicate balance, the festive drink mixes double espresso, mocha sauce, steamed milk, ground cardamom, cocoa powder and rose whipping cream made with Monin Rose Syrup and pink edible glitter.

Cardamom is considered the "Queen of Spices" and it is said that Cleopatra used the scent to seduce. In this drink, the chocolate and coffee create a beautiful backdrop for the two aromatics. Creamy sweet rose appears first, and warming cocoa and cardamom finishes. Spice does not overpower, and rose notes are subtle and not perfume-y.
