Patriotic winemaker, The Federalist, has launched a line of wines inspired by the Founding Fathers and The Statue of Liberty. Each wine features a different founding father and is great for festive imbibing or gifting this holiday season. Below is more info on each wine, which is available at a number of Chicago restaurants some of which include Rosebud, Hutch and McCormick and Schmicks.  You can also check out local retailers across the city to collect them all.

  • To honor our Founding Fathers and their love of wine, The Federalist created a collection of varietals as big and bold as the men themselves. Thus, The Federalist was born. They began with their flagship Visionary Zinfandel ($24.99) featuring the man who pioneered The Federalist Party, Alexander Hamilton.
  • They then expanded with their Dueling Pistols Red Blend ($39.99), memorializing the duel in which Hamilton was mortally wounded by the Vice President of the United States, Aaron Burr.
  • They have since created a Chardonnay featuring the Statue of Liberty ($21.99), a Cabernet Sauvignon featuring Ben Franklin, a Zinfandel featuring George Washington ($24.99) and a Honest Red Blend featuring Abraham Lincoln ($19.99).
  • The newest edition to the Federalist family is the Bourbon Barrel-Aged Zinfandel ($21.99) from Mendocino County! Aged in real bourbon barrels for six months, this wine portrays Alexander Hamilton, who met his demise at the end of a smoking barrel in a famous duel in American history.
