Understanding the context: Food Truck Thursdays Return to Ravinia District on June 4th

The City of Highland Park and the Ravinia District Special Service Area 17 property owners have announced the return of Food Truck Thursdays in the City of Highland Park's Ravinia District. Kicking off June 4 and running through September 3, the weekly event takes place from 4:30 PM to dusk along Dean Avenue between Roger Williams and St. Johns Avenues and at Jens Jensen Park across from the Ravinia Metra Station.

Throughout the season, thousands of al fresco diners will enjoy a rotating lineup of more than a dozen food trucks along Dean Avenue, offering a wide variety of food and beverages. Food and beverage selections are also available from Highland Park restaurants including: Abigail’s American Bistro, Michael’s Grill & Salad Bar,  Steep Ravine Brewing Company, Taco Motora, The Yellow Duck Truck, Hello Boba and more.

“We’re so excited for another season of great music, delicious food, and long summer nights with neighbors at Food Truck Thursdays in the Ravinia District!” said Nancy Rotering, Mayor of the City of Highland Park. “It’s such a joy to see community members come together each week to make memories enjoying everything that makes the Ravinia District feel so special. Special events like Food Truck Thursdays build community and shine a light on the incredible small businesses in the District.”

Highland Park businesses will also be on hand to engage with the community through rotating weekly activities. Attendees are invited to participate in two theme nights - America250 on July 9 and 1990s Throwback Thursday on August 20. Guests are encouraged to dress to the theme, participate in activities and bring blankets or chairs to Jens Jensen Park.

Food Truck Thursdays are open to the public and feature live music weekly. Musical acts represent a mix of genres each week with performances running from 5 - 8:30 PM. The performances are curated to engage audiences of all ages, with several dates featuring children’s entertainers during the 5 PM set.

“We couldn’t be more excited to provide the summer soundtrack for Food Truck Thursdays in the Ravinia District this summer,” said Noah Plotkin, owner of Highland Park-based Life Rhythms Inc. “The Ravinia District is synonymous with music, and we’re honored to help bring that energy to the event each week. From family friendly performances to blues and rock, classic Americana to soul, there is something for everyone this summer at Food Truck Thursdays.”
