First Annual Big Hot Bang! Ice Cream Social To Take Over Bang Bang Pie Shop Patio, 8/30

HotChocolate Chef Mindy Segal and first annual backyard ice cream social and cookbook signing: Big Hot Bang! This sweet celebration of sugary love takes over Bang Bang’s patio (2051 N. California Ave.) on Sunday, August 30 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The afternoon’s sweets include ice cream sandwiches featuring ice cream by Big Gay Ice Cream between cookies from Mindy Segal. In addition, look out for the Gobbler sundaes made with ice cream by Big Gay Ice Cream and sweet pies (á la mode, of course) baked by the experts at Bang Bang Pie Shop. Also, 3 Floyds Brewery will be pouring their new Moloko Stout, a tasty milk stout released just this year that pairs perfectly with ice cream. Ice cream, cookie and pie flavors will be announced closer to the time of the event.

More Bang for your Buck with TWO weekend book signings. Lincoln Park’s Read It & Eat will be on hand at Big Hot Bang! selling copies of “Cookie Love” by Mindy Segal as well as “Big Gay Ice Cream Book” by Bryan Petroff and Douglas Quint, who will each also be signing copies of their respective cookbooks. Pre-purchase either cookbook through the event website and save 20% off the cover price. Additionally, there will be another “Big Gay Ice Cream Book” signing and recipe demo the day before the event on Saturday, August 29 at 2:00 p.m., at Read It & Eat (2142 N. Halsted St.).
