Wine Magnificient Mile

ENO Wine Room is hosting a special Meet the Winemaker event on March 17 with Fred Niger, of Domaine de l’Ecu in Loire, France. For five generations, the winery had been one of the most influential Muscadet producers in the world, with its focus on organic viticulture and unique terroirs of Muscadet based on soil type. TNiger will be on-hand to answer guests’ questions about his unique wines.

For the evening, ENO will feature a Domaine de l’Ecu Flight ($16), which will highlight three different varieties from the wine producer, grown in three different soils, including:

Gneiss

Grown in light gneiss sub-soil on vines that are approximately 45 years old, this wine is light and fruity but intense.

Orthogneiss

Derived from igneous rock and this “terroir,” this wine has a distinct minerality.

Granite

The grapes are grown in granite sub-soil and schist, lending great minerality to the wine.

ENO Wine Room will also offer a De l’Ecu Cheese & Charcuterie Platter ($20), including:

Cheese

Pena Gorda, Prairie Breeze & Robiola

Charcuterie

Smoking Goose Gin & juice salami, West Loop Salumi’s Nduja & Creminelli Coppa

Accoutrements

Pickled grapes & marcona almonds, white wine grain mustard & mixed berry mustard
